【箴言Proverbs 1:8】 我兒,要聽你父親的訓誨,不可離棄你母親的法則(或作“指教”), My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother;

【申命記Deuteronomy 6:4-7】 4“以色列啊,你要聽!耶和華我們 神是獨一的主。 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! 5你要盡心、盡性、盡力愛耶和華你的 神。 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
6我今日所吩咐你的話都要記在心上, "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7也要殷勤教訓你的兒女,無論你坐在家裡,行在路上,躺下,起來,都要談論; You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

【箴言 Proverbs 6:20】 我兒,要謹守你父親的誡命,不可離棄你母親的法則(或作“指教”), My son, keep your father's command, And do not forsake the law of your mother. 【箴言 Proverbs 7:1,2】我兒,你要遵守我的言語,將我的命令存記在心。遵守我的命令就得存活。保守我的法則(或作“指教”),好像保守眼中的瞳人,The Wiles of a Harlot My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you. Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye.
【箴言Proverbs 1:7】 敬畏耶和華是知識的開端,愚妄人藐視智慧和訓誨。 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. 【箴言Proverbs 9:10】敬畏耶和華是智慧的開端,認識至聖者便是聰明。 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
【提摩太后書2Timothy 2:21】 人若自潔,脫離卑賤的事,就必作貴重的器皿,成為聖潔,合乎主用,預備行各樣的善事。 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
【箴言Proverbs 4:23】 你要保守你心,勝過保守一切(或作“你要切切保守你心”),因為一生的果效,是由心發出。 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. 【箴言Proverbs 16:32b】 治服己心的,強如取城。 he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
【箴言Proverbs 1:10】 我兒,惡人若引誘你,你不可隨從。 My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. 【箴言18:24】 濫交朋友的,自取敗壞,但有一朋友,比弟兄更親密。 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
【提摩太前書1Timothy 1:12-16,18】 12我感謝那給我力量的我們主基督耶穌,因他以我有忠心,派我服侍他。 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13我從前是褻瀆 神的,逼迫人的,侮慢人的,然而我還蒙了憐憫,因我是不信、不明白的時候而作的。although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
14並且我主的恩是格外豐盛,使我在基督耶穌裡有信心和愛心。 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 15“基督耶穌降世,為要拯救罪人。”這話是可信的,是十分可佩服的。在罪人中我是個罪魁。 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.
16然而我蒙了憐憫,是因耶穌基督要在我這罪魁身上顯明他一切的忍耐,給後來信他得永生的人作榜樣。 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. ……
…… 18我兒提摩太啊,我照從前指著你的預言,將這命令交托你,叫你因此可以打那美好的仗, This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,
【提摩太前書1 Timothy 4:7-8】 7只是要棄絕那世俗的言語和老婦荒渺的話,在敬虔上操練自己。 But reject profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. 8操練身體,益處還少;惟獨敬虔,凡事都有益處,因有今生和來生的應許。 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
【提摩太前書1 Timothy 6:6-10】 6然而,敬虔加上知足的心便是大利了, Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7因為我們沒有帶什麼到世上來,也不能帶什麼去, For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8只要有衣有食,就當知足。 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.
9但那些想要发财的人,就陷在迷惑、落在网罗和许多无知有害的私欲里,叫人沉在败坏和灭亡中。But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10贪财是万恶之根。有人贪恋钱财,就被引诱离了真道,用许多愁苦把自己刺透了。 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
【約翰一書1 John 2:15】 不要愛世界和世界上的事。人若愛世界,愛父的心就不在他裡面了。 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
【雅各書James 4:4】 你們這些淫亂的人哪(“淫亂的人”原文作“淫婦”),豈不知與世俗為友就是與 神為敵嗎?所以凡想要與世俗為友的,就是與 神為敵了。 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
【提摩太后书2 Timothy 2:21-22】人若自洁,脱离卑贱的事,就必作贵重的器皿,成为圣洁,合乎主用,预备行各样的善事。 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 你要逃避少年的私欲,同那清心祷告主的人追求公义、信德、仁爱、和平。 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

【瑪拉基書Malachi 2:15b】 ……乃是他願人得虔誠的後裔。所以當謹守你們的心,誰也不可以詭詐待幼年所娶的妻。 ….He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, And let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth.
