A. Recognizing that God Is 承認有神 (17:22-23; 來 Heb 11:6) 徒 Acts 17:22–23 (NIV) 22 Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. 23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you.
來 Hebrews 11:6 (NASB) 人非有信就不能得神的喜悅‧因為到神面前來的人,必須信有神,且信他賞賜那尋求他的人‧ And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
B. Recognizing Who God Is 知道(認識)神是誰 (徒 Acts 17:24-29) 24 “The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; 25 nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; 26 and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, 27 that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’ 29 “Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man.
B. Recognizing Who God Is
1. CREATOR 創造者 (17:24a) The God who made the world and all things in it, (NASB)
2. RULER 掌管者 (17:24b) 既是天地的主,就不住人手所造的殿‧ 24b since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; (NASB) 既是天地的主,就不住人手所造的殿‧
3. GIVER 賜予者 (17:25) 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.
4. CONTROLLER 控制者 (17:26) 他從一本造出萬族的人,住在全地上,並且預先定準他們的年限,和所住的疆界‧ 26 From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.
5. REVEALER 啟示者 (17:27-29) 27 God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ 29 “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by man’s design and skill.
C. Recognizing What God Has Said 知道神說什麼 (17:30-31) 30 “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, 31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” 30世人蒙昧無知的時候,神並不監察,如今卻吩咐各處的人都要悔改.
(17:32-34) 32 When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject.” 33 At that, Paul left the Council. 34 A few men became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others.
