zhōnɡ ɡuó tài ɡǔ shí qī , yǒu yì zhī xiōnɡ měnɡ de ɡuài shòu, 中国太古时期,有一只凶猛的怪兽, shēn jū zài mì lín zhōnɡ , rén men ɡuǎn tā jiào nián 。 tā měi ɡé sān bǎi liù shí wǔ tiān cuàn dào rén qún jù jū de dì fɑnɡ chánɡ yí cì xiān。

3 ér qiě chū méi de shí jiān dōu shì zài tiān hēi yǐ hòu , děnɡ dào jī mínɡ pò xiǎo , tā biàn fǎn huí shān lín zhōnɡ qù le 。 suàn zhǔn le nián de sì nuè rì qī , nán nán nǚ nǚ biàn bǎ zhè kě pà de yí yè shì wéi ɡuān shà , chēnɡ zuò nián ɡuān 。

4 zài bǎ jī juàn niú lán quán bù shuān láo , rán hòu bǎ zhái yuàn de dà mén fēnɡ zhù , duǒ zài wū lǐ chī nián yè fàn 。 yóu yú zhè dùn wǎn cān jù yǒu xiōnɡ jí wèi bǔ de yì wèi , suǒ yǐ zhì bàn dé hěn fēnɡ shènɡ 。 chú le yào quán jiā lǎo xiǎo wéi zài yì qǐ yònɡ cān , biǎo shì hé mù tuán yuán wài , 除了要全家老小围在一起用餐,表示和睦团圆外, hái xū zài chī fàn qián xiān ɡònɡ jì zǔ xiān , qí qiú zǔ xiān de shén línɡ bǎo yòu tā men pínɡ pínɡ ān ān dì dù ɡuò zhè yí yè 。

5 chī ɡuò wǎn fàn hòu , shuí dōu bù ɡǎn shuì jiào , jǐ zuò zài yì qǐ xián liáo zhuànɡ dǎn , děnɡ dài lí mínɡ 。 áo ɡuò nián ɡuān de rén men xīn xǐ bù yǐ , yào ɡǎn xiè tiān dì zǔ zonɡ de hù yòu ,

6 yǒu yì nián , sān shí wǎn shɑnɡ , nián shòu cuàn dào yí ɡè cūn zi lǐ 。
yì cūn zi rén jī hū bèi nián shòu chī ɡuānɡ le , zhī yǒu yì jiā ɡuà hónɡ bù lián 、 chuān hónɡ yī de xīn hūn xiǎo liǎnɡ kǒu pínɡ ān wú shì 。 hái yǒu jǐ ɡè hái zi , zài yuàn lǐ diǎn le yì duī zhú zi zài wán shuǎ , 还有几个孩子,在院里点了一堆竹子在玩耍, huǒ ɡuānɡ tōnɡ hónɡ , zhú zi rán shāo hòu pā pā dì bào xiǎnɡ , nián shòu zhuǎn dào cǐ chù , kàn jiàn huǒ ɡuānɡ xià dé diào tóu táo cuàn 。

7 cǐ hòu , rén men zhī dào nián shòu pà hónɡ 、 pà ɡuānɡ 、 pà xiǎnɡ shēnɡ 。
zì cǐ , qìnɡ zhù xīn nián de fēnɡ sú yuè chuán yuè ɡuǎnɡ , chénɡ le zhōnɡ ɡuó mín jiān zuì lónɡ zhònɡ de chuán tǒnɡ jiē rì 。

8 The Origional of the Spring Festival
Long ago, the world was not a safe place; monsters dominated the world. There was one horrifying monster that came out on the same day each year to eat people. This monster was named Nian, and the people marked the end of a year by his visits to the human civilization. That is where the Chinese word for year came from. This monster was the most feared by the people because every time it came out, whole villages would be destroyed at a time. So, every time the monster came, people would huddle together in their homes and stay up all night, wanting not to be eaten. This happened for many years until a wise man thought up a plan to scare the monster away. This man proposed that the people should light bamboo. The bamboo would crack and make a lot of noise, possibly scaring the monster away. The villagers thought this was a very good idea and started to light the bamboo. The noise was tremendous. The monster was scared by the loud noise and ran back to its cave without not eating any people. The next morning, everyone was present. They were all elated. The people congratulated each other for executing the plan effectively. So, from then on, people stayed up late, lit firecrackers (to simulate the lighting of the bamboo), and congratulated each other when the new year came. The Origional of the Spring Festival
