It is a repository that contains a range of full text material that would not otherwise be easily available. It is a sustainable archive available via a link from CAB Abstracts. CABI used their subject specific expertise to identify suitable journals to target – those with important content not already published or licensed by large aggegators. 90 journals currently scanned with more to come. Typically back to 2005 but some back to 2000. Predominant focus is journal content and conferences with one or two books as well. Over 10,000 articles annually. Much of the material available electronically for the first time. The Repository will be updated every time records with a full text link to papers in the Repository are loaded onto CAB Abstracts. Distribution Maps of Plant Pests
Widely respected reference source on the global distribution and extent of specific plant pests. DMPP covers important arthropod pests affecting agriculture and forestry. Access includes 18 new maps each year and an electronic archive of over 665 plant disease maps, going back to 1951. It is available in electronic format for the first time. Fully searchable using a subset of the CAB Abstracts database. The Distribution Maps have been and continue to be the most authoritative source of information available on the presence and extent of specific plant pests. Two sets of maps are produced per year, with nine (arthropod) pests per map set. Each map set comprises mostly new maps, but also some map revisions where there have been changes to taxonomy or distribution. Each map is compiled from a large variety of scientific sources and validated by an expert. Coordination and validation of most Pest Maps (arthropods) is presently undertaken at the Natural History Museum London. The backfile will include the most up-to-date map for every species previously mapped and multiple revisions of some maps. Do: Open an OvidSP account.
Say: To find out more about a database open its Field Guide under the I icon. A database consists of individual records and these records consist of fields, Each field contains a particular type of information, an author name, a title etc. In many of the Ovid databases, you can divide this field list into three parts, information which comes from the author – titles, abstracts, author names, information about the location of the work – journal name, volume, issue page or descriptive information which is added about the work – subject descriptions, document types, broad subject categories for example. Within an Ovid database usually all the fields are searchable and in the majority they are also browsable. So in an Ovid database you have the greatest access into the data which is possible.
