11 什么是IDL & Inspec? Inspec Inspec是理工学科最重要、使用最为频繁的数据库之一，也是全球在理工科领域最权威的二次文献数据库之一。前身 “科学文摘”SA始于1898年，由IET（前IEE）出版。专业面覆盖物理、电子与电气工程、计算机与控制工程、信息技术、生产和制造工程等领域，并覆盖材料科学，海洋学，核工程，天文地理、生物医学工程、生物物理学等领域的内容。

Currently the database contents over 6.4million articles originating from over 80 countries of publication. Over 4,000 journals are currently on our list of which about 750 are abstracted completely, i.e. journals are taken cover to cover as a policy reflecting the fact that these journals almost without exception cover the core material of interest to the Database. That isn’t to say that other journals aren’t covered completely as they often are, but they will be chosen on a more individual basis. Over 2000 conferences, as well as many books, reports occasional publications and dissertations are scanned by Inspec staff for relevant articles to abstract and index for the database, and now over 330,000 articles are added each year.

The Subject field and Bibliographic field. In the subject fields, there are Title, abstract, Controlled index, Classification codes, Treatment code, Chemicals indexing, Numerical data Indexing, Astronomical Object Indexing. In the Bibliographic fields, the example of the searchable fields are Author, meeting Info(location, title). Source title, Document type Language, Identifying Code (ISBN/ISSN …).
