16 Assignment --Simulation Exercises
Work in groups. Role-play the following situations with your partners, acting as the Chinese speaker, English speaker and the interpreter respectively. One group will be invited to perform in class. Situation A Two of the students will discuss the size, location, transportation, and facilities of the Hi-tech Fair and Shenzhen. One tries to be the manage from a foreign company, the other tries to be the organizer of the exhibition, the third student will be their interpreter. Situation B One of the students will be giving a brief introduction to one of the exhibition centers in your city. Another student tries to be his / her interpreter.

17 Points to Remember Seven fuzziness-related tactics are introduced in this unit: Generalization; Approximation; Abbreviation; Parrot-repeating; Omission; Substitution; Paraphrasing. While applying the fuzziness-related tactics, interpreters are to make sure that the fuzziness scale is not exceeded.
