What the Course is about?
Qualitative research is one of the methodological approaches for educational research. QR includes various means of obtaining in-depth understanding of educational phenomena in social settings. This course is not only an introduction to the theoretical perspectives which underlie qualitative research methodology, but also methods and procedures in collecting, categorizing, analyzing qualitative data, writing-up, and application of qualitative research.

The course is designed for the students who are beginning their graduation thesis projects using qualitative research methods. We will focus on the issues, problems and strategies related to a qualitative research project in real educational settings. Students are required to read and discuss texts related to knowledge, conduct the field work including reviewing ethics, collecting and analyzing qualitative data, completing a proposal/paper/report/thesis.
