2 A Back-To-School Barbecue, Aug. 27
Where? River Park North, 1000 Mumford Rd., Greenville (near the Pitt-Greenville Airport) When? 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 (4 p.m.: recreation; 5 p.m.: Worship and greetings; 6 p.m.: dinner) What? A fellowship gathering of Greenville Chinese Christian Fellowship and (my church) Vision Casters Ministries, for barbecued hamburgers and hotdogs, a covered dish supper, sports, and outdoor fun. “What Can I Bring?” A friend, and a side dish, a snack food, a dessert, or your most famous food creation. The two churches will supply the beverages, ice, and the sports equipment.

3 Prayer begins in Secret
“5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. 4 Prayer: Communication with God
Prayer is two-way communication with God: I talk to Him. He talks to me. I listen to Him. He listens to me. It can include any of these activities (and might combine them at different times): Singing Speaking or shouting praises Reading the Bible (either silently or out loud) Praying or singing passages from the Bible Listening for God’s voice (usually heard inwardly) Pouring out one’s heart to God Making requests Confessing recognized sins Forgiving people who have wronged one Interceding (praying) on behalf of other people As in any relationship, each conversation is different.

5 Speaking God’s Language: Praying the Bible
When we use the Bible to communicate with God, we are speaking His native tongue, using the principles and words He has given us to tell us Who He is and what He values. Psalm 119:9-16 9 How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. 10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. 11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. 12 Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees. 13 With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. 14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. 15 I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. 16 I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. 詩 篇 119:9-16 9 少 年 人 用 甚 麽 洁 净 他 的 行 为 呢 ？ 是 要 遵 行 你 的 话 ！ 10 我 一 心 寻 求 了 你 ； 求 你 不 要 叫 我 偏 离 你 的 命 令 。 11 我 将 你 的 话 藏 在 心 里 ， 免 得 我 得 罪 你 。 12 耶 和 华 啊 ， 你 是 应 当 称 颂 的 ！ 求 你 将 你 的 律 例 教 训 我 ！ 13 我 用 嘴 唇 传 扬 你 口 中 的 一 切 典 章 。 14 我 喜 悦 你 的 法 度 ， 如 同 喜 悦 一 切 的 财 物 。 15 我 要 默 想 你 的 训 词 ， 看 重 你 的 道 路 。 16 我 要 在 你 的 律 例 中 自 乐 ； 我 不 忘 记 你 的 话 。

6 The Bible’s Prominent Role in Our Lives
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 7 Praying the Word/Understanding the Word

May the Lord grant all your requests. 6 Now this I know:  The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. 7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. 8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. 9 Lord, give victory to the king! Answer us when we call!
