Did you Know The professional title goes after a person’s surname. Ex. 王老師师 The school system in China is very similar to the US. There are 4 years in undergraduate and three years in high school (although many high schools in the US have 4 years.) The first year of college is referred to as大一 (It is “大學一年級” in short.), the second year is大二, the 3rd year is大三, and the 4th year is大四. In the three years high school, 高一refers to the first year of high school, which is short for “高中一年級” (10th grade). 高二 refers to the 2nd year(11th grade), and 高三refers to the 3rd year(12th grade). 了:When it appears after a verb, it usually indicates a completion of an action; ex. 說了,看了,寫了,學了…

Did you Know Time words: When a time word is used, it is usually placed in the front of a sentence. It can also precede or follow the subject. Ex. 今年我教中文。 我今年教中文。 還是= still is: This is used to emphasize things/events, or to imply that there are other choices. Ex.明年我還是教中文(不教英文)。 還教/學= continue to teach/learn. EX. 明年我還教/學中文。 (This implies that whether or not you have other choices, you still want to continue anyway.) 還是 = “Or” as a question word Ex. 你是老師還是學生? Are you a teacher or a student? (One way or the other)

Wrap up test “School” Write the dialogue and act it out.
The following conversation taking place between two classmates. At the 1st day of the school you ran into a classmate but you thought he/she was your Chinese teacher. You exchange info, ex. names and grade level, and ask each other how many years of learning Chinese. You learned Chinese last year and this year you still learn Chinese. People said your Chinese teacher is Ms. Wang who has taught high school Chinese for 12 years, and she also teaches college Japanese for two years. She teaches college Japanese very well but she is teaching Chinese next year. At the end, your friend praises you speaking very well Chinese. You reply modestly. *Make sure you include the underlined words at least, and you and your partner have fair number of lines. (Highlight the underlined words before handing in.)
