Since January 2003, via ScienceDirect you’ve been able to access color images in articles, even if the journal was printed in black and white. Authors can now choose to include in articles on ScienceDirect multimedia and supplementary files to enhance article content. The use of widely accepted, standard formats means these files will always be supported, so you won’t end up with dead links in the future. Wen-Yau Cathy Lin (Taiwan) 2005

29 特點 – 優先存取 in press 期刊文獻 優先閱覽 已通過同儕審查並獲準出版，但尚未出版紙本
Some journals in ScienceDirect have pre-published articles loaded. These "Articles in Press" journals contain peer-reviewed and accepted articles to be published soon in these journals. This provides authors with early visibility of - and researchers early access to - this information. When the final article is assigned to an issue of such a journal, the "Article in Press" version is removed. "Articles in Press" do not have all bibliographic details available. There are two types of "Articles in Press": Uncorrected proofs: Articles not yet finalized which will be corrected by the authors. Text could change before final publication. Uncorrected proofs may be temporarily unavailable for production reasons. Corrected proofs: Articles containing authors' corrections. Content of the article usually will remain unchanged, and possible further corrections will be minor. Typically the only difference with the finally published article is that specific issue and page numbers have not yet been assigned. Articles in Press can be cited by using the DOI. 同時檢索篇名、摘要、作者、關鍵詞 訂閱的使用者和非訂戶都可使用 檢索術語之間的關係為 AND使用雙引號做精確檢索 The quick search entry-box appears on each ScienceDirect page. This allows you to quickly enter search terms to search all journals without navigating to the more extensive search form. When you use the quick search, it searches your terms in these fields: article titles, abstracts, keywords and authors. The quick-search sources change depending on where you are on ScienceDirect. In other words, if you’re in the Reference Works area, the quick search searches that. If you’re in the Book Series area, the quick search searches that. Wen-Yau Cathy Lin (Taiwan) 2005

包括 in press 期刊論文 Basic 檢索術語欄可容納多個術語 All the search forms, except for Scirus, have basic and advanced search modes. The basic search mode offers a menu-driven form that to search terms, specified sources, subjects and date ranges. You can include the Boolean operators AND, OR, AND NOT to limit your search. 包括in press期刊論文 使用布林運算元（and, or, and not）和 LexisNexis 檢索語法 處理複雜和長檢索句 The advanced search mode allows you to construct more complex and lengthy search strings. The menu form is replaced with an empty search box. By using Lexis-Nexis search syntax, you can limit your search by field segments by typing in the field name, followed by all of your search terms enclosed in parentheses. blood w/2 platelets 檢索的關鍵字間隔不超過 2 個字詞 不在距離內NOT W/nn “Impaired circulation” NOT W/5 diabetes 檢索impaired circulation，但不在接近 diabetes 的 5 個字詞之內 之內與間隔PRE/nn behavioural PRE/3 disturbances 檢索論文中有behavioural且之後跟著disturbances間隔不超過 3 個字詞 同欄位W/seg blood w/seg diabetes 檢索blood與diabetes出現在同一欄位 萬用字元 ! 字根切截 cent! 可檢索到 center、centre、central、century…… * 字中或字根，一個*代表一個字母 cent**可檢索到center和centre Lexis-Nexis search syntax is used in ScienceDirect. Search terms are not case-sensitive. To restrict search results to terms occurring within a specific field, include a field name in your advanced search string. If in the field “Search Term” you enter “(Title) ‘Cloning,’” this searches the title of the article for the word ‘cloning’. Proximity Connectors allow you to specify the proximity between search terms. “W” represents "within.” “Nn” represents the number of words from 1 to 255. “TW/nn” does not specify word order. Either word may appear first. “PRE/nn” means the first term must precede the next term by nn words. “W/seg” means the two terms must be included within the same segment Wen-Yau Cathy Lin (Taiwan) 2005

The search history function allows you to save search queries for each search session for up to 7 days. You must log in or create a username to access Search History. To activate the Search History, click “Turn On” next to the Search History section. You can easily track all your searches and rerun, edit or delete any queries right from the history table. From the query box on at the top of the search results page, enter terms to refine your original query. When you enter a term, you search all fields. ScienceDirect 並未限制檢索的文件數量 但是，ScienceDirect 只顯示 1,000 筆結果 解決之道：建議以年代限縮檢索結果 檢索找到超過 10,000 筆結果時會有提示訊息： Do you want to cancel or continue the search?（您要取消或繼續檢索？） 每一組 1,000 筆顯示結果都已排序 您可選擇按日期或相關性順序來檢視結果 If a search finds over 10,000 results, a message appears asking if you want to cancel or continue the search. When you have run a search, you have several options on the results page. You can view, edit or save the query with the search links. 在結果頁的再檢索區域，為檢索設定檢索通報 You set up a search alert from the results page of a search in any research area. Click ‘Save as Search Alert’. A screen will appear asking you to name your search and specify the address to send the information to and how often you would like the alert to run. 透過期刊頁 透過 My Alerts To request a new volume or issue alert, check the box next to ‘Alert me when new Journal Issues are available’ from the journal browse screen. To set up a citation alert, you must be viewing the article you’re looking for in citations. From the actions list on the upper or lower right side of the article, select ‘Save as Citation Alert’. A page will appear asking for the name of the alert, your address and the frequency you would like to have the citation search run. Citation alerts can notify you by when an article you select is cited by new articles on ScienceDirect. If you are an author, you can track all ScienceDirect papers citing your article. If you’re a librarian, you can use citation alerts to notify you each time a particular campus author publishes. Or to get a list of all articles your campus authors have published on ScienceDirect.
