2 多學一點點 聖尼古拉節 在荷蘭和一些歐洲國家，每年12月6日是聖尼古拉節，即St Nicholas Day。 聖尼古拉荷蘭人叫Sante Klaas，任小亞細亞邁拉(Myra)主教多年，相傳於公元343年12月6日去世，在世時曾令三個被謀殺的孩子復活，又曾秘密贈金使三個少女得免為娼，還曾救遇暴風的水手，成為孩子、少女、水手的守護神。西歐殖民美洲期間，Sante Klaas大名西渡，變成今天美加的Santa Claus（聖誕老人）。 美加的聖誕老人逢聖誕節送禮物，但在荷蘭等地，送禮物給兒童的主角仍然是聖尼古拉。和他一起的，有個叫彼得的黑人，即black Peter，不過，為免勾起「黑奴」的回憶或「歧視黑人」的爭議，黑彼得有時會變成綠彼得，即green Peter: On St Nicholas Eve, St Nicholas and black Peter listen through chimneys to check children‘s behavior before jumping down chimney flues to fill good children’s shoes with gifts, and bad children‘s shoes with coal（聖尼古拉節前夕，聖尼古拉和黑彼得會在煙囪上聆聽孩子乖不乖，然後從煙道跳下來，把禮物放進乖孩子的鞋裡，而把煤塊放在不乖孩子的鞋裡）。聖誕襪(Christmas stocking)就是出自聖尼古拉節的鞋子。 對話裡的格特把孩子抱起來看聖尼古拉節遊行：Let me hold you up。假如把孩子放在肩上，可以說：Let me hoist you on to my shoulders。Hoist是「舉起」。 出自:
