6 Whole-school Approach to Discipline
Respect for self, respect for others, respect for the school and respect for learning will bring about harmonious relationships at school. 2. NO prefect system, NO demerits  trust that students will learn to be self-aware and demonstrate self-discipline. School rules and regulations  clear our expectations on students. Teachers guide and form students to become women with others and for others. Teachers are role-models who will guide students to target at and to search for excellence

7 Whole-school Approach to Discipline
Positive Discipline (guidance approach) Teachers can teach and reinforce the good behaviors ... Teachers are actively involved in helping students learn how to handle situations more appropriately while remaining calm, friendly and respectful to students themselves. Teachers employ kindness and firmness at the same time

8 Whole-school Approach to Discipline
The tools and concepts of Positive Discipline include: Mutual respect. Teachers model firmness by respecting themselves and the needs of the situation, and kindness by respecting the needs of the child. Identifying the belief behind the behavior. Effective discipline recognizes the reasons kids do what they do and works to change those beliefs, rather than merely attempting to change behavior. Effective communication and problem solving skills. Discipline that teaches (and is neither permissive nor punitive). Focusing on solutions instead of punishment. Encouragement (instead of praise). Encouragement notices effort and improvement, not just success, and builds long-term self-esteem and empowerment (Nelson, 2016) Nelson, J. (2016). What is positive discipline.

9 Whole-school Approach to Discipline
People engaging in positive discipline are not ignoring problems. Rather, they are actively involved in helping their child learn how to handle situations more appropriately while remaining calm, friendly and respectful to the children themselves; There are consequences of students’ inappropriate behaviour – parents will be informed of students’ inappropriate behaviour at school
