问 候 Greeting New words ma 吗 (a question particle) 我 I, me hěn 很 very Nǐ hǎo ma 你 好 吗? How are you? Wǒ hěn hǎo 我 很 好。 I’m fine. 吗 : a question particle. used at the end of a sentence to make a question.

Walk around the classroom and greet each other with a handshake. 2) Roleplay. One acts as a pop star greeting his/her fans. Nǐ hǎo ma 你 好 吗? Wǒ hěn hǎo 我 很 好。 Nǐ hǎo 你 好。

Nǐ jiào shénme 你 叫 什么? What’s your name? Wǒ jiào …… 我 叫…… I am .... New words jiào 叫 to call, to be called shénme 什么 what 我来问候,加上问名字。

Ask each other for their English names. 2) Find your friend. Each one writes a name on the board and on a slip of paper. The slips are put into a bag. The teacher form pairs of friends. Students pick one slip of paper with a name on it and find their friend. Nǐ jiào shénme 你 叫 什么? Wǒ jiào …… 我 叫…… Write a name on the whiteboard and I match them in pairs. Each students get a name in hand and they need to find their pair.

10 Research (15 min) 1. Jigsaw read for Chinese names. Choose one you like and write it down. 2. Explain in class the meaning of the word you choose. 3. Write the name on slips of paper and put them in a bag.

Present name cards and tell the meaning.
