问 候 Greeting New words ma 吗 (a question particle) wǒ 我 I, me hěn 很 very Nǐ hǎo ma 你 好 吗？ How are you? Wǒ hěn hǎo 我 很 好。 I’m fine. 吗 : a question particle. used at the end of a sentence to make a question.

Walk around the classroom and greet each other with a handshake. 2) Roleplay. One acts as a pop star greeting his/her fans. Nǐ hǎo ma 你 好 吗？ Wǒ hěn hǎo 我 很 好。 Nǐ hǎo 你 好。

Ask each other for their English names. 2) Find your friend. Each one writes a name on the board and on a slip of paper. The slips are put into a bag. The teacher form pairs of friends. Students pick one slip of paper with a name on it and find their friend. Nǐ jiào shénme 你 叫 什么？ Wǒ jiào …… 我 叫…… Write a name on the whiteboard and I match them in pairs. Each students get a name in hand and they need to find their pair.
