1963 Science Citation Index(SCI) 1973 Social Science Citation Index(SSCI) 1978 Arts & Humanities Citation Index(AHCI) 1997 Web of Science 2000 Web of Knowledge 2005 The Century of Science [Don’t read slide, but comment as follows] -- Our core journal coverage includes indexing of over 8,400 titles in the Sciences, Social Sciences, and Arts & Humanities. Each of these journals must pass through a rigorous evaluation process. ISI maintains an Editorial Development group dedicated to performing these evaluations. Our goal for the Web of Science and Current Contents is to cover the world’s most influential peer-reviewed research publications. From these, we not only index full papers and review articles, but also include editorials, discussions, book reviews, and other types of documents. With inclusion of BIOSIS Previews, coverage of an additional 2,600 journals in the biological sciences is added to the ISI Web of Knowledge. Future addition of CAB Abstracts will add coverage of over 3,300 journals in agriculture and applied life sciences

It is extremely important to note -- A patent is often the first place scientific and technical information is reported. Over 70% of information reported in patents is unavailable elsewhere. Patent literature is an expansive, valuable, and unique source of information. There is good scientific information within the patent literature, and so whether or not one’s own research may be of a “patentable” variety, patent literature holds information that may benefit the progress of that research. Within the ISI Web of Knowledge, core coverage of patents is provided through the Derwent Innovations Index. Tremendous value is added to patent literature through Derwent’s indexing processes, they are the world leader in this area. For example, Derwent replaces the original patent title, which is often intentionally obscure for competitive reasons, with a greatly enhanced, extremely descriptive version. This provides a fantastic level of improvement in the search and retrieval of patent literature. Derwent Innovations Index records also include patents and articles cited by the patent author/inventor and the patent examiner, as well as the inventor’s drawings.

透過被引用次數(Time Cited),了解一篇論文對之後的研究發展的影響力 利用相關文獻(Related Records)的功能,檢索引用相同文獻的論文 ISI has of course maintained sound coverage of the world’s chemistry literature for decades. In addition to capturing bibliographic information for published research, we do in fact also capture reaction and compound data and chemical structures. This is available within the ISI Web of Knowledge. We provide... [read points under “Core Coverage”] ISI chemists scrutinize the literature for all new and novel reactions and compounds. There is a core of over 100 international journals that account for publication of most new and novel reactions and compounds. ISI maintains excellent coverage of this core set of journals, as well as drawing chemical information from patents. Therefore we feel very comfortable is stating that we do capture 90% of new reactions and compounds that are reported in the literature. Within the ISI Web of Knowledge, ISI Chemistry provides search and retrieval of data, including chemical structures, for new and novel reactions and compounds. ISI Chemistry is very tightly integrated with the Web of Science to present an extremely powerful resource.
