Immediately a rooster crowed. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: "Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times." And he went outside and wept bitterly.

彼得的恐懼(Peter’s Fear): 「彼得遠遠的跟着耶穌，直到大祭司的院子，進到裡面，就和差役同坐，要看這事到底怎樣。」- 馬太福音 26:58 (But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. He entered and sat down with the guards to see the outcome.) – Matthew 26:58. 彼得的無能(Peter’s Incompetence): 「彼得在眾人面前卻不承認，說：（我不知道你說的是什麼？）」- 馬太福音 26:70. (But he denied it before them all. "I don’t know what you’re talking about," he said.) – Matthew 26:20 「彼得又不承認。並且起誓説：（我不認得那個人。）」 - 馬太福音 26:72. (He denied it again, with an oath: "I don’t know the man!“) – Matthew 26:72.

彼得的失敗(Peter’s Failure): 「彼得就發咒起誓的說：（我不認得那個人。）立時，雞就叫了。」 - 馬太福音 26:74. (Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them, "I don’t know the man!" Immediately a rooster crowed.) – Matthew 26:74. 神的憐憫(God’s Mercy): 「主轉過身來看彼得，彼得便想起主對他所說的話：（今日雞叫以先，你要三次不認我。）」 - 路加福音 22:61. (The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.“) – Luke 22:61.

彼得的悔改(Peter’s Confession): 「彼得想起耶穌所說的話：（雞叫以先，你要三次不認我。）他就出去痛哭。」 - 馬太福音 26:75. (Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: "Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times." And he went outside and wept bitterly.) – Matthew 26:75. 彼得的轉變(Peter’s Transformation): 主復活後向門徒顯現，耶穌對彼得說：「 （你愛我比這些更深吧？） （你餵養我的小羊。） 耶穌第二次又對他說：（..... 你愛我嗎？） （你牧養我的羊。） 第三次對他說：（..... 你愛我嗎？） （你餵養我的羊。）」 - 約翰福音 21: 14 – 17. (…..Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead. …. "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" …. "Feed my lambs.“ …. 神的救贖(God’s Salvation): 「但我復活以後，要在你們以先往加利利去。」- 馬太福音 26:32. (But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.“) – Matthew 26:32 神的計劃(God’s Plan): 「主又說：（西門！西門！撒但想要得着你，好篩你們像篩麥子一樣；但我已經為你祈求，叫你不致於失了信心，你回頭以後，要堅固你的弟兄。）」 - 路加福音 22:31，32. ("Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.“) – Luke 22:31, 32.

應用(Applications)： 要省察自己有沒有自傲的心。 「 因為神阻擋驕傲的人，賜恩給謙卑的人。」 - 彼得前書 5:5下. (…….. "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.“) – 1 Peter 5:5b. 要知道自己的弱點。 「我也知道在我裡頭，就是我肉體之中，沒有良善。因為，立志為善由得我，只是行出來由不得我。」 - 羅馬書 7:18. (For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.) – Romans 7:18.

應用(Applications)： 要面對事實，不要逃避。 不要用血氣行事。 「耶穌對他說：（收刀入鞘吧！凡動刀的，必死在刀下。」 - 馬太福音 26:52. ("Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.) – Matthew 26:52. 要警醒禱告。 「總要警醒禱告，免得入了迷惑。你們心靈固然願意，肉體卻軟弱了。」 - 馬太福音 26:41 ("Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.“ – Matthew 26:41.

結論(Conclusions)： 我們一定要在真理上紥根，彼此建造，彼此勉勵。 We must root our foundation in Truth. Build up each other, and encourage each other. 「所以弟兄們，應當更加殷勤，使你們所蒙的恩和揀選堅定不移。你們若行這幾樣，就永不失腳。這樣，必叫你們豐豐富富地得進入我們主救主耶穌基督的國。」 - 彼得後書 1:10, 11. (Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble: for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.) – 2 Peter 1: 10, 11
