1-1 Digital and Analog Quantities (数字量和模拟量)
Electronic circuits can be divided into two broad categories, digital and analog. We are discussing both digital electronics(数字电子学)and analog electronics (模拟电子学)in this term.

1-1-1 Analog Quantities An analog quantity (模拟量)is one having continuous (连续的) values. 强调:在时间和幅值上都连续取值的信号。(举例:空调)

1-1-1 Analog Quantities Many quantities are analog in nature; that is, they are continuous quantities. Physical quantities such as temperature (温度), pressure (压力), time (时间), distance(距离), and sound (声音) are examples of analog quantities.

1-1-2 Analog Systems Analog systems: For example:滤波器、信号发生器等。

1-1-3 Digital Quantities A digital quantity (数字量) is one having a discrete (离散的 )(discontinuous) set of values. 强调:数字信号是在时间和幅值上都离散的信号。

Can be processed and transmitted more efficiently and reliably . Easy to be stored, and can be stored more compactly and so on. Can’t be affected by noise.

1-2 Binary Digits, Logic Levels, and Digital waveforms
1-2-1Binary Digital Logic (二值数字逻辑) 重点 2 opposite states.(没有第3种) switch: open and close. lamp: turn on and turn off. 数字0——逻辑0 数字1——逻辑1 有且只有两种对立的逻辑状态,这样的逻辑关系称为“二值数字逻辑”或简称“数字逻辑”。

1-2-2 Binary Digits The two-state number system is called binary(二进制), and its two digits are 0 and 1. Positive logic (common) (正逻辑): HIGH=1 and LOW=0. Negative logic (负逻辑) (less common): HIGH=0 and LOW=1 Logic 0 Logic 1 False True Off On Low High No Yes Open switch Close switch

1-2-3 Logic Levels(逻辑电平) The voltages used to represent a 1 and a 0 are called logic levels.(即表示逻辑1和逻辑0的高低电平) High Level(高电平) Low Level(低电平) 2 different voltage levels: HIGH and LOW.

1-2-4 Digital Waveforms (后面讲)
The pulse: rising (leading) edge (上升沿)and falling (trailing) edge (下降沿). Pulse width : (脉宽) the duration of the pulse. Period T (周期) : the fixed interval repeated by the periodic pulse . Frequency f: the reciprocal (倒数)of the period.

1-2-5 The Difference Between Digital Circuits and Analog Circuits
输入、输出和处理的信号不同 输入变量和输出变量之间表达的关系不同 模拟电路:数值关系 数字电路:逻辑关系(因果关系) 故,数字电路也叫数字逻辑电路。
