It could be a noun, it also could be a verb means “ telling a story.” There are no written words in Paiwan language. For the thousands of years, Paiwan people pass down their complete history by the way of miling’an.

在昏黃夜晚，部落老人帶著孩子們圍著火，說唱著千年流傳的小米神話，就是「MilinMilingan」 「米靈岸」重現部落過去及現代的生活場景，娓娓道來老祖先的智慧 … The elder tells stories thousand years ago with kids sitting around the camp fire in the evening. 獵徑 Track Of Hunting When it’s raining, you can pick a leaf of Giant Elephant‘s Ear. When you are thirsty, cut the trunk of banana tree to drink water. When you are injured, use Shellflower to wrap your wound. 下雨的時候，砍姑婆芋折成帽子和雨衣。 口渴時，砍香蕉樹幹取水。 擦傷了，用月桃葉經用來包紮傷口。
