1 在該撒利亞有一個人，名叫哥尼流，是義大利 營的百夫長。 2 他是個虔誠人，他和全家都 敬畏神，多多賙濟百姓，常常禱告神。 3 有一天，約在申初，他在異象中明明看見神的一個使者進去，到他那裡，說：哥尼流。4 哥尼流定睛看他，驚怕說：主啊，甚麼事呢？天使說：你的禱告和你的賙濟達到神面前，已蒙記念了。 1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, 2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. 3 About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!” 4 And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?” So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God. (NKJV)

5 現在你當打發人往約帕去，請那稱呼彼得的 西門來。 6 他住在海邊一個硝皮匠西門的家裡， 房子在海邊上。 7 向他說話的天使去後，哥尼流叫了兩個家人和常伺候他的一個虔誠兵來， 8 把這事都述說給他們聽，就打發他們往約帕去。 5 Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter. 6 He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do.” 7 And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier from among those who waited on him continually. 8 So when he had explained all these things to them, he sent them to Joppa.

Heart of Obedience 順服的心 7 向他說話的天使去後，哥尼流叫了兩個家人和常伺候他的一個虔誠兵來， 8 把這事都述說給他們聽，就打發他們往約帕去。 7 And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier from among those who waited on him continually. 8 So when he had explained all these things to them, he sent them to Joppa.

30 哥尼流(對彼得)說:前四天，這個時候，我在家中 守著申初的禱告，忽然有一個人穿著光明的衣裳， 站在我面前， 31 說：哥尼流，你的禱告已蒙垂聽，你的賙濟達到神面前已蒙記念了。 32 你當打發人往約帕去，請那稱呼彼得的西門來，他住在海邊一個硝皮匠西門的家裡。 33 所以我立時打發人去請你。你來了很好；現今我們都在神面前，要聽主所吩咐你的一切話。 30 So Cornelius said, “Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, 31 and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God. 32 Send therefore to Joppa and call Simon here, whose surname is Peter. He is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea. When he comes, he will speak to you.’ 33 So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come. Now therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God.”

II. Heart of Tolerance 寬廣的心 9 第二天，他們（哥尼流的僕人）行路將近那城。彼得約在午正，上房頂去禱告， 10 覺得餓了，想要吃。那家的人正預備飯的時候，彼得魂遊象外， 11 看見天開了，有一物降下，好像一塊大布，繫著四角，縋在地上， 12 裡面有地上各樣四足的走獸和昆蟲，並天上的飛鳥. 9 The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. 10 Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance 11 and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. 12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.

II. Heart of Tolerance 寬廣的心 13 又有聲音向他說：彼得，起來，宰了吃！ 14 彼得卻說：主啊，這是不可的！凡俗物和不潔淨的物，我從來沒有吃過。 15 第二次有聲音向他說：神所潔淨的，你不可當作俗物。 16 這樣一連三次，那物隨即收回天上去了。 13 And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” 14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” 15 And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.” 16 This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.

Leviticus 利未記 11:45-47 45 我是把你們從埃及地領出來的耶和華， 要作你們的　神；所以你們要聖潔，因為我是聖潔的。 46 這是走獸、飛鳥，和水中游動的活物，並地上爬物的條例。 47 要把潔淨的和不潔淨的，可吃的與不可吃的活物，都分別出來。 45 For I am the LORD who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. 46 ‘This is the law of the animals and the birds and every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth, 47 to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten.’”

19 彼得還思想那異象的時候，聖靈向他說：有三個人來找你。 20 起來，下去，和他們同往，不要疑惑，因為是我差他們來的。 21 於是彼得下去見那些人 19 While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are seeking you. 20 Arise therefore, go down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.” 21 Then Peter went down to the men who had been sent to him from Cornelius

23 彼得就請他們進去，住了一宿。次日，起身和他們同去，還有約帕的幾個弟兄同著他去；24 又次日，他們進入凱撒利亞，哥尼流已經請了他的親屬密友等候他們 … 27 彼得和他說著話進去，見有好些人在那裡聚集， 28 就對他們說：你們知道，猶太人和別國的人親近來往本是不合例的，但　神已經指示我，無論甚麼人都不可看作俗而不潔淨的。 23 Then he invited them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter went away with them, and some brethren from Joppa accompanied him. 24 And the following day they entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was waiting for them, and had called together his relatives and close friends…. 27 And as he talked with him, he went in and found many who had come together. 28 Then he said to them, “You know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to keep company with or go to one of another nation. But God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

34 彼得就開口說：我真看出　神是不偏待人。 35 原來，各國中那敬畏主、行義的人都為主所悅納。 36 　神藉著耶穌基督（他是萬有的主）傳和平的福音，將這道賜給以色列人。 34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. 35 But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him. 36 The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ—He is Lord of all—

38神怎樣以聖靈和能力膏拿撒勒人耶穌,這都是你們知道的 38神怎樣以聖靈和能力膏拿撒勒人耶穌,這都是你們知道的. 他周流四方, 行善事, 醫好凡被魔鬼壓制的人, 因為　神與他同在。39他在猶太人之地,並耶路撒冷所行的一切事,有我們作見證。他們竟把他掛在木頭上殺了。40 第三日, 神叫他復活, 顯現出來, 41不是顯現給眾人看, 乃是顯現給　神預先所揀選為他作見證的人看, 就是我們這些在他從死裡復活以後和他同吃同喝的人 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. 39 And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. 40 Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly, 41 not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.

42他吩咐我們傳道給眾人，證明他是　神所立定的，要作審判活人、死人的主。43眾先知也為他作見證說：凡信他的人必因他的名得蒙赦罪。44彼得還說這話的時候，聖靈降在一切聽道的人身上。45那些奉割禮、和彼得同來的信徒，見聖靈的恩賜也澆在外邦人身上，就都希奇；46因聽見他們說方言，稱讚　神為大。47於是彼得說:這些人既受了聖靈，與我們一樣，誰能禁止用水給他們施洗呢?48就吩咐奉耶穌基督的名給他們施洗… 42 And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. 43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.” 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord…

14 彼得卻說：主啊，這是不可的！凡俗物和不潔淨的 物，我從來沒有吃過。15 第二次有聲音向他說：神所潔 淨的，你不可當作俗物 14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” 15 And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.” 28 你們知道，猶太人和別國的人親近來往本是不合例的 You know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to keep company with or go to one of another nation. 45 那些奉割禮、和彼得同來的信徒，見聖靈的恩賜也澆 在外邦人身上，就都希奇起身和他們同去，還有約帕的幾 個弟兄同著他去； 45And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.

Unclean & Common vs. Cleansed Other Nations vs. Jewish Gentile vs. Circumcised

28 Then he said to them, “You know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to keep company with or go to one of another nation. III. 宣教的心 36 神藉著耶穌基督（他是萬有的主）傳和平的福音，將這道賜給以色列人。 37 這話在約翰宣傳洗禮以後，從加利利起，傳遍了猶太。 39 他（耶穌）在猶太人之地，並耶路撒冷所行的一切事，有我們作見證。他們竟把他掛在木頭上殺了。 41 不是顯現給眾人看，乃是顯現給神預先所揀選為他作見證的人看，就是我們這些在他從死裡復活以後和他同吃同喝的人。 42 他吩咐我們傳道給眾人，證明他是神所立定的，要作審判活人、死人的主。 43 眾先知也為他作見證說：凡信他的人必因他的名得蒙赦罪。
