五、特殊的省略 1、由“hence”引出的省略句 由“hence”（有时也可由“thus”）引出的句子经常省去谓语动词“comes”（或“results”），一般可译成“因而得到了……”。 The stream(流) of electrons is emitted(发射) from the cathode(阴极) of the electron gun(电子枪), hence the name “cathode ray(阴极射线).” The transistor(晶体管) in the figure(图) has its semiconductor(半导体) materials(材料) arranged(排列) p-n-p, hence the name pnp transistor.
In most computers the program(程序) is stored(储存) in the memory unit(记忆单元). Thus the term(术语) “stored program computer.”(存储程序计算机) When the blood(血) becomes viscous(粘性的), it is difficult for the heart(心脏) to pump(泵压) it through the capillaries(毛细血管). Hence the increase in blood pressure(血压). Proteins(蛋白质) are essential(必不可少的) to the growth(生长) and the rebuilding(重建) of body tissues(人体组织) —hence their importance.
This chapter(章) is almost(几乎) purely(纯) mathematical(数学的), but the concepts(概念) introduced(介绍) in it are essential(重要的) for the understanding(理解) of Chapter 9, hence its inclusion(加入) here.
