Many organizations know their classic enterprise business processes very well and many have automated these in a very efficient manner. However, there is in almost all cases an interaction between this structured world and the world of the information workers, the unstructured world. Because human beings are involved in many of the business processes. Human beings are there to input the data, validate and approved data, transform data into information and knowlege and collaborate on that data with other people (Gartner pointed us a few years ago to the fact that about 80% of all communication going on in companies is people-to- people communication).
