The red graph represents the cost of repair as a result of failure as a function of the preventive maintenance interval. We see that if we carry out preventive maintenance too frequently our failure costs are low but our total maintenance bill is very high. The program tells us that the best preventive maintenance interval is at 6348 hours. If we adhere to that policy we will be saving 24.8% over the cost of a run-to-failure policy.
