3 作者生平 約1480年出生於德國維爾茨堡(Würzburg) 師承不明
1505年在阿沙芬堡(Aschaffenburg )Matthias Grunewald已是一位畫家，他早期的作品大概都是在這裡完成的 年受雇於梅茵茲(Mainz )大主教 1515年創作伊森海姆祭壇畫(Isenheim altarpiece) 1525年完成最後人生最後一幅畫並參與農民戰爭(Peasants’ War) 1526年在法蘭克福(Frankfurt am Main)轉職為一名商人直到1528年搬去哈雷並在這個地方去世

5 Isenheim altarpiece 它是為伊森海姆的聖安東尼教區教堂繪製的。伊森海姆的這座修道院是安東尼教派僧侶們的療養院，此療養院在當時具有醫院的功能，幫人們治療各種疾病。，在十字架上的基督的形象是佈滿瘟疫型瘡，而非經過神化的形象，以耶穌的不完美表示耶穌對病痛的理解，間接讓當時為疾病所苦的人得到心靈的寬慰。
