2 5种纪录片的种类 Patricia Aufderheide 将纪录片分为五个类型(subgenres) :
1. 公共事物 (Public Affairs) 2. 政府宣传片(Government Propaganda) 3. 倡导或鼓吹纪录片 (Advocacy) 4. 民族志 (Ethnographic) 5. 大自然 (Nature)

3 《猕猴列传》 由台湾公共电视制作人柯金源，历经十年追踪纪录拍摄而成《猕猴列传》 ，2004年4月8日在《纪录观点》首播，记录人们与台湾猕猴的互动与冲突，呈现部分人为饲养与野生猴群的现况，同时映照人类保育工作的真实面貌，重新思考以人为中心的资源利用价值观。片长50分钟 为了揭开台湾猕猴的真实生活样貌，公视「纪录观点」节目制作小组进行长期的田野调查工作，从1993年间的野生动物买卖与饲养，到2003年间的人猴冲突等问题。它所纪录的故事，多达十多个，从台湾北部的福山植物园、苗栗象鼻部落，中部的台中和平鄉、彰化二水鄉、新中橫公路，南部的台南烏山、佳里榮家、高雄柴山、旗山、屏東恆春熱帶植物園、野生動物收容中心，以及離島地區的澎湖四角嶼等等。

4 调研对纪录片的呈现有何帮助 提供你故事所需要的资料背景 帮助你收窄你的焦点角度，并寻找什么是你拍摄对象有趣和不寻常的地方。
调研也能让你准备你访问的问题。 如何把整件事用画面来呈现。 需要确定什么是可用的，所以你就可以制订一个可能的序列表，这包括故事的场景，人物和情节线索（plot lines），这将预先让你在视觉上和题目上，推进你想要告诉人的故事。

5 处理(The Treatment) 给你的故事结构有一个全面的概述。 以视觉图像来组织你的故事。
以序列（sequences）来分解（Broken down）你的故事: - 写下你的主意(idea)和你故事的假定(premise)。根据你从调研或拍摄所得，玩弄不同的轨迹(trajectories) ，看看你的纪录片有怎样不同的呈现方式和效果。 -列出“演出”人的名字，编排出他们的性格概况和包括所有其他相关信息，这将帮助你确定其不同的角色。谁是主角（ protagonists）？他们想要什么？谁阻止他们想要得到什么？谁是他们的对手或对立者（antagonists）？

6 处理(The Treatment) 从故事情节中广招(broad strokes) ---当你搜索到其戏剧性的可能性，你就收窄你的主题。
提供以下的事物: -调研的资料research information -假设the premise -矛盾the conflicts -故事模式the story patterns -你的手法your approach -视觉分格visual style -人物角色 the cast of characters
