They were faced historically with a challenge to ensure only authorized personnel could execute loan approvals and producing a valid audit trail of the approval process. The concern was potential for financial losses associated with the approval of loans by unauthorized personnel. Woori Bank administrators determined the use of username and passwords were ineffective as the validating credential to execute these transactions. In an effort to improve audit trail quality they implemented the use of cards as the validating credential, but this approach did not eliminate loan approvals by unauthorized personnel from occurring. This approach also did not result in the audit trail accuracy they required. Results Woori Bank performed a limited test utilizing fingerprint biometrics as the validating credential in 2005 and quickly made the decision to move forward based on the test results. In 2006 they initiated competitive testing of many technologies to determine the partner they would use for full scale implementation across all offices. After competitive testing was completed Woori Bank in 2006 chose Integrated Biometrics’ Light Emitting Sensor (LES) with fingerprint matching engine based on the test results. For this unattended application the security and usability intrinsic to the LES based solution was the obvious choice.

Originally, the famous Dunkin Doughnut organization approached Integrated Biometrics about implementing a time and attendance system within their 31 stores throughout Seoul. Their challenge involved employees coming to work late and sometimes not at all, while at the same time, others were accounting those absent employees as present at work. This created confusion and frustration for the back offices of the business. It was costing the business money and time to address this issue. Dunkin Doughnuts came to Integrated Biometrics asking for a logical and feasible solution. Results The best product and solution was PC fingerprint scanner (TBN210), so we proposed Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robins 31 stores TBN210 as employee management system. In 2005 Integrated Biometrics proposed the implementation and installation of the TBN210 within their stores across Seoul. Today, Dunkin Doughnuts is using more than 200 TBN210’s throughout their stores. This USB product allows the main offices of the company to control and monitor all of the time and attendance issues from a central location. “We are thoroughly satisfied with our networked-based attendance system,” said a manager of Dunkin Donut.

They have full time and many part time workers. The part time workers sell tickets, control parking, or other minor activities. In the past, KRA had used other methods for time & attendance system for calculating the salaries of part time workers, but the results were poor. At the beginning, KRA used time cards for tracking attendance status. However, many problems with the workers sharing their time cards with other workers led to the fraudulent reception of money. So the system was completely inaccurate. This led KRA to adopting IB Korea’s fingerprint time & attendance system. Results KRA conducted BMT (benchmarking test) and received proposal from other companies but selected IB Korea’s solution of USB fingerprint scanner (TBN210) time & attendance. The IB Korea solution not only our performed other companies but was also the least expensive. KRA, as a public company, had very strict testing and maintenance criteria for selection their system and is very satisfied with the performance and ease of use of the IB Korea’s PC based system.

Certain areas must have restricted access and it is critical that identity is determined before access is granted. Although prox cards or fob systems are common solutions, a biometrics solution was sought since it offers identity management with a unique identifier that is always available and easily accessible, while at the same time non-transferable. Further, the Police Department wanted cutting-edge technology, a competitively priced product, as well as a system that would perform well in their application. Therefore, when the Daytona Beach Shores Police Department constructed their new facility in 2006, they sought a biometrics solution to control access and aid in record keeping. Results The optimal solution was the TRU650 Access Control System – a fingerprint biometric solution offered by Integrated Biometrics. A large application, Daytona Beach Shores initially installed 53 TRU650 access terminals. Integrated Biometrics worked closely with the in-house IT person to ensure the installation was successful. The TRU650s are installed throughout the entire complex, including vital secured areas such as records, interview rooms, detective division, evidence and property, internal affairs, the police chief’s office, administration wing, IT room and the secured parking lot. Once the hardware installation was complete, the administration process began. The police department set their configuration preferences and enrolled users. To ensure administrators and users understood how the system worked and to improve usability, Integrated Biometrics conducted extensive training sessions.

Keys and cards used with previous systems presented many challenges as they were given to unauthorized people or simply lost. Biometrics are too often considered a solution for granting access to high value/sensitive areas, rather than a means for granting access to people for a designated area. However, Bill Carmichael of Grand Oaks recognized the benefits of an identification system that residents couldn’t lose or share. Grand Oaks sought a product with better security than their existing system, was less expensive to operate, would perform in a harsh environment, and would be easier to manage from an administration standpoint for their community pool and fitness center. The solution was the Integrated Biometrics TRU650 solution, installed in November 2005. Results Since installation, Grand Oaks has benefited from better security because the person enrolled cannot share their access with others. Further, the system has been less expensive because Grand Oaks does not have to administer keys or cards, as well as easier to administer as access can be granted or denied in real-time with a simple click of the mouse. Further, the product performs well in an outdoor environment. Grand Oaks also purchased and has benefited from the maintenance agreement offered by Integrated Biometrics. According to Carmichael, they chose Integrated Biometrics because of the price point and the reliability of the product. “The system and the technical support provided by Integrated Biometrics has surpassed my expectations,” Carmichael said. “The TRU-650 is a cost-effective solution to controlled access and it has protected my property from unauthorized use. In fact, it is such an impressive product that it has actually helped in the selling and leasing of homes. I also like that it has set us apart from our competition. I have used all kinds of access control systems, including biometrics, and nothing comes close to yours.”

Case in point is the Peoples Bank as they needed to control access to their Operations Center and internal areas such as primary and secondary data centers and offices. They assigned their local security vendor the task of recommending a system that would satisfy their needs. Card and biometric systems were to be considered. Results After extensive research and testing of viable options, the Bank’s security vendor recommended Integrated Biometrics’ TRU650 biometric system due to system performance, security, price, reliability and ease of use. Integrated Biometrics worked closely with the security vendor and Peoples Bank during installation, configuration and administrative training. Travis Conley, FVP/Information Technology Officer for Peoples Bank, noted that the IT installation was very simple, and the system works incredibly well. Since initial installation in December 2006, Peoples Bank has added to their system with two additional purchases. After two years of everyday use, Peoples Bank feels that the TRU650 system has satisfied their needs of system reliability and confidence. Specific benefits have included no longer having to manage keys or cards as well as the means to identify who, when, and where specific people have accessed their facilities. Further, they are able to add and remove employees easily and add access levels with ease. Peoples Bank also notes that the customer/tech support relationship with Integrated Biometrics has been positive.

After all, they must satisfy varying customer requirements based on the products they recommend and install. When Arthur VanZant, owner of SKT Security, Inc. needed to find a solution for his customer, the Oklahoma Heart Hospital, he knew it had to work, and work well. The customer had previously installed a biometric system that failed due to a variety of reasons including sensor problems, system communications, software issues, faulty customer support, and upward capacity. As such, VanZant recognized the importance of installing a product that would overcome all of these challenges as well as satisfy their overall performance and reliability access control needs. Biometrics was requested as users did not like using cards. Results One of the key requirements was being able to integrate the recommended product with a SQL database and communicate with modern TCP/IP architecture. Further, it was essential that management and administration would be able to be performed from any location connected to the network, and new buildings across town must be able to be tied into the system. As such, expansion of capacity and access points had to be easily performed. After research and testing various products, VanZant recommended Integrated Biometrics TRU650 system to his customer. One of ISG’s Northern VA-based clients had requested biometric access control for a data center facility, and ISG desired to be their single source technology and integration provider. After an introductory phone call, Integrated Biometrics was able to quickly familiarize ISG with the TRU650, a fingerprint based enterprise access control solution, from its capabilities to its interface and straightforward installation process. Within a short period of time, ISG was able to deliver a robust solution to the satisfied end user. Results In late 2007, ISG moved to its newly constructed office in Spartanburg, SC. Having had several years of positive experiences with Integrated Biometrics for its own client base, ISG purchased six TRU650s to control access to different areas of their building that includes the front entrance, computer room and supply warehouse. Presently, 105 users, including employees and maintenance crews, are enrolled in the system that averages over 1,000 uses per day. Continuing to expand its business, ISG opened South Carolina’s first commercially available Tier IV Data and Business Continuity Center on January 1, Seven TRU650s had been installed during construction of the 20,000 square foot facility and were operating on opening day. Joe Strayer, ISG’s VP of Integration Services, comments, “Cards are a big security risk, and we did not even consider their usage at our data center. We’ve been committed to using Integrated Biometrics’ TRU650; its security and reliability are paramount to our success.” As evidence of ISG’s success, a plan for constructing a second data center is already in the works.
