2 本单元介绍的是亦亚特兰大为代表美国南部的发展。对于美国,学生都知道,但是要他们说出美国的一些具体的东西,他们实际上知道的很少。所以Warning up 作为本单元的第一课时,中心是要向学生介绍一些美国的具体的有特色的及著名的城市、商业、文化等方面的常识,了解如何介绍一个地方。 下面以学生最熟悉的东西导入

Uncle Sam was named after Samuel Wilson. During the war of 1812, Samuel Wilson worked as a butcher and meat packer( 包装工人). He provided large amounts of meat for the US Army. The barrels(大桶) were marked “U.S.”。 Supposedly, someone who saw the "U.S." stamp (图章) suggested -- perhaps as a joke -- that the initials (首字母) stood for "Uncle Sam" Wilson. The idea that the meat amounts came from "Uncle Sam" led to the idea that Uncle Sam represented the federal(联邦制的) government.
