19 In E-Strategy electronic journals have become of critical importance 電子期刊在e策略中極為重要
Electronic journals have become indispensable to have 電子期刊已成為不可或缺的資源 Many publishers are offering them now 許多出版社已發行電子期刊 Each one has its own interface and system 各出版社擁有自己的介面與系統 With new e-journals appearing every day, it is hard to know what else is available to you 電子期刊如雨後春筍不斷問世，很難掌握所有的資訊 The way the presentation is created is that you are telling a story where you demonstrate that you know what your audience has to deal with and you address these issues. The way I structured this presentation is that what is on the sheet is background information for the story you are telling. You should not read what is written on the slide, but what you are telling should relate directly to that kind of information is stated in the slide. We all know that electronic journals are important and gaining importance by the minute. It is also a known fact that at first the electronic journals were supposed to make everyone’s life simpler and easier, but this did not happen. Now you have the license agreements, sometimes no control over what is available and what is not. Now, everyone realizes that electronic journal subscriptions lead to the same amount of work as a print subscription, if not more. Adding to the problem, all these journals that offer internet access free with the print subscription means that instead of handling one subscription, they are in reality handling two subscriptions. With the fragmentation of the electronic journals being offered by different publishers in different interfaces/systems, it is no longer easy to go somewhere to search through all the information a person has available to them. If you overly simplify the matter, it could be said that electronic journals are somewhat going against what a library stands for. A library is a place where you have the consolidated information – the one-stop-shop for information. With the fragmented publisher systems, you have the opposite effect. The real challenge for the librarians and information specialists is to manage all this new information type which is extremely difficult to administrate and at the same time, make sure that their users know where to go for what and that they know how to use the different systems.

Functionality varies on level of access to SwetsWise: SwetsWise 依其使用功能的不同，分為: End user / 個人使用者 : Search and read articles / 搜尋與閱讀論文 Administrator / 管理者 : Setup users and view usage statistics / 設定個人使用者和整理使用統計資料 Main administrator / 總管理者 : Account level setup / 設定系所 (部門) 帳戶 First of all, the functionality will depend on the role of the user. In SwetsWise online content, a user can be an end-user, an user administrator or an account administrator. The user administrator is able to use the service as an end-user and in addition, make modifications to user profiles and view statistical reports. The account administrator is the one that makes the account level settings.

Table of Content (ToC)-alerts automatically disseminates the availability of new issues of journals 期刊目次通告服務 (TOC alerts)：系統自動傳送最新期刊目次 Search alerts (SDI) automatically disseminates the availability of new articles of interest to the user 專題選粹服務 (Search alerts/SDI)：系統自動傳送與使用者興趣相符的文獻 Customizable texts allow for administrators to add even more information via these media 管理者可加註重要的訊息，經由以上管道傳送給使用者 Automatic alerts on new journals added to SwetsWise or to your account 自動通知新增到 SwetsWise 或系所/部門帳戶的期刊訊息 Another key element is the dissemination of information to the end-users. If the user does not know something is available, they won’t use it. Reaching all the users of a library can be very difficult and time consuming. For this reason, another aim of the service is to provide tools with which the librarian can disseminate important and relevant information to the users easily. Administrators can include an introductory paragraph that is included in the TOC alerts or search alerts. This text can be anything the administrator wishes, thus providing a different means with which to reach the end-users. It is also very difficult to keep all users up to date with which journals are available to them, for this reason, users now have the choice to sign up for alerts that informs them of any addition that was made to the customer account, or additions that were made to SwetsWise.

Quote  Swets Blackwell can provide in comma-delimited format, other formats possible.  Order We can receive in various formats, but they are translated into for manual entry into SSS. Automatic upload is not possible at this time. Order Details  We can send customers a checklist in comma-delimited format, other formats possible. Some customers may be able to use the checklist above or their EDI invoice interface to automatically update their records. Others may want to use a barcode reports to scan the information.

Swets Blackwell 客戶 備註  期刊清單 可將所客戶傳來的期刊清單，載入SSS 的報價系統中。事前需與電子資料交換服務人員連絡有關傳送格式事宜。 報價  Swets Blackwell 可提供如 comma-delimited 的格式與其他格式的報價。  下訂 可接受各種不同的格式，但需轉成電子郵件，以人工方式鍵入SSS。此時尚無法自動化上傳。 訂單明細  可提供客戶如 comma-delimited 的格式與其他格式的訂單明細。 有的客戶也許需利用此一明細表或其電子資料交換的發票介面來自動地更新其記錄。而其他的客戶需使用條碼報告來掃瞄登錄其相關資訊。
