2 What is ARTstor? 成立背景 ARTstor是由The Andrew W.Mellon基金會所籌辦的
非營利計劃，主要宗旨為運用數位科技以提升學術、 教學與學習在藝術及相關領域的品質。 1999年三月，基金會開始找尋可以協助社群以教育及 學術為目的而取得及使用影像的廣大需求之方法，且 基金會清楚地知道教育社群對於製作數位影像資源以 支援教學需求越來越受重視。2000年，基金會提供數 位圖書館聯盟一筆補助金，由圖書館及資訊資源會議 提出一非營利的計畫，為尋求製作數位影像典藏的以 滿足老師與學生教學與學習需求的方法需求的方法。 Mission- ARTstor is a non-profit initiative, founded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, with a mission to use digital technology to enhance scholarship, teaching, and learning in the arts and associated fields. ARTstor consists of: A repository of hundreds of thousands of digital images and related data; The tools to actively use those images; and A restricted-usage environment that seeks to balance the rights of content providers with the needs and interests of content users. Ultimately, ARTstor was founded to contribute to the work of the arts and educational community. ARTstor's primary goals as an organization are: To assemble image collections from across many time periods and cultures that will, in the aggregate, have sufficient depth, breadth, and coherence to support a wide range of educational and scholarly activities; To create an organized, central, and reliable digital resource that supports noncommercial use of images for research, teaching and learning; and To work with the arts and educational communities to develop collective solutions to the complex challenges that are an inescapable part of working in a changing digital environment.

及建築內容有相當的重要性，特別值得注意的是 Huntington Archive of Asian Art，當中收錄俄亥俄 州立大學的John C.和Susan Huntington的照片典藏 精選。Huntingtons為東亞及南亞藝術研究領域重要 的學者，特別是對於佛教的肖像研究在此領域最受重 視。 他們所收集之研究及文件檔案來自於亞洲重要的博物 館，如：印度、阿富汗、喀什米爾吉及喜馬拉雅地 區，另外值得一提的就是當中收集了敦煌石窟的影像 檔，並製作成QTVR檔案，讓使用者可以身歷其境。 不論是亞洲文化中的藝術或民俗藝術，傳統形式或當代 作品，亞洲研究的學者定能在此獲得豐富的資源！

13 Literary Studies文學研究 ARTstor Digital Library收錄了許多與文學研究相關
的影像資源，例如各時代及各地的作者畫像，從古典 文學作家荷馬和希臘哲學家至文藝復興作家但丁和莎 士比亞，甚至現代作家諾曼梅勒和山謬貝克特的照 片，在此都可以查到相關圖解資料。 許多與文學相關的插圖及文章影像檔案也收錄其中， 不論是薄伽梵往世書的手稿，文藝復興時代對於古典 上帝及英雄的描繪，英國浪漫詩人威廉布雷克對其詩 作的註解，或是比亞茲萊為19世紀英國才子王爾德知 名戲劇沙樂美、亞里斯多分尼茲所著的希臘喜劇利西 翠妲或其他戲劇的插畫；另外收錄來自於許多檔案館 和圖書館所收藏之手稿、卷首插圖或重要文學著作第 一版的影像檔都可以在ARTstor Digital Library取 得！！

14 Theater & Dances 戲劇與舞蹈 戲劇與舞蹈領域的歷史學家、戲服和舞台設計
者、表演者或表演老師均可在Artstor Digital Library中找到相關資料，當中收錄時代範圍可 從古希臘及古羅馬至現代；古代戲劇院的照片 如希臘的埃庇道努劇場，或當時演出情形和服 裝(包含舞蹈)的畫或其他影像均可找到。 舞蹈的部份，不管是中古世紀的舞蹈、英國舞 蹈莫利斯舞都圖片及詳細的說明，而現代也收 錄了許多表演者的照片，如安娜帕芙洛娃、現 代舞之母艾莎道拉或摩斯康漢寧表演時的照 片。

15 Architecture建築學 ARTstor Digital Library收錄許多歐洲、美洲、亞洲及伊斯
蘭教的建築及建築史相關影像檔案，The Art History Survey Collection收集了許多重要遺跡之影像資料，從史前考 古到當代建築均收錄其中。另外Hartill Archive of Architecture and Allied Arts亦補充了一套在建築史領域一 群重要的捐獻者於教學上使用的幻燈片及數位影像，時代涵蓋 古代和歐洲中世紀至21世紀，研究者可取得相當多的資源於其 中。美國卡內基藝術中心也提供了許多美國建築的高畫質影像 檔案精選，從美國殖民地時期至20世紀的檔案都有。 至於其他國家的建築學相關影像，亞洲建築相關的 Collection有Huntington Archive of Asian Art、Mellon International Dunhuang Archive及American Council for Southern Asian Art (ACSAA) Collection；而伊斯蘭教的建 築相關影像檔案主要收錄在Islamic Art and Architecture Collection，主要由數位於伊斯蘭教藝術與建築史領域重要的 老師所收集的教學幻燈片。

16 Design & Decorative Arts設計及裝飾藝術
ARTstor Digital Library所收錄與設計及裝飾藝術相關 的影像檔案中最值得注意的就是MOMA Architecture and Design Collection、Carnegie Arts of the United States Collection和Image Gallery Collections。MOMA Architecture and Design Collection收錄了將近4,000個 設計物品和2,000個平面設計的影像檔案，當中包含了建 築的圖畫、模型、照片和平面設計材料如：海報和3D立體 物品-器具、家具、餐具、工具或織物等，不論是早期現代 主義或後現代，當中收錄許多現代及當代相當重要的代表 作品。 而Carnegie Arts of the United States Collection特別 的著重於美國從殖民地時代至現代的裝飾藝術，收錄了超 過500個影像檔案。

28 檢索結果呈現-QTVR (Quick Time Virtual Reality)
ARTstor與哥倫比亞大學 合作將QTVR的技術運用在 教學及學術研究上，將世 界許多重要建築物的影像 製作成此檔案格式並收錄 在ARTstor Digital Library中。使用者可透過 這種360度全景環繞的影像 技術，不論是拉遠、拉近 、仰視或俯瞰，都有如身 歷其境地從各種角度欣賞 建築物之美！

OIV為ARTstor所發展出專用 的簡報軟體，協助ARTstor使 用者製作簡報檔案並可在無網 路的環境下離線使用，透過此 軟體可儲存從ARTstor Digital Library存取的高解析 度影像檔案並展示。 同時也可將PowerPoint檔或 個人圖片上傳至此軟體中使 用。 OIV使用指引請參考：
