14 Did you know 1.件=a piece, a measure word for clothes Ex. 一件衣服= a piece of clothes 2.看=look, see, watch or read 看看=take a look Ex. 看中文= read Chinese 3.百=hundred 千qiān= thousand 萬wàn =10 thousand 4.已經 ….過了 =has been…already Ex. 已經打折過了 = has been discounted already. 已經…了= is….already Ex. 已經很便宜了= is very cheap already 5.打折= discount Ex. 打八折=20% off 打七折=30% off 打對折 =50%off 6.別家= other locations (stores) 別=others Ex. 別人=other people 家is a measure word for buildings. See chapter 6, I 7.東西= stuff When it is used alone:東= east 西=west 8.不能= unable to 能 = able to 能不能= able or not able to It sometimes is very similar to可以(can or ask for permission) 9.吧 is used to soften the tone and is usually placed at the end of a statement.

Write a dialogue based on the given scenario: The conversation is between a sales and a customer. “You ask the sales to show you a shirt politely, and the sales askes you what color do you would like to see (green and red). The shirt ( each) only has only black and white, but this top (She shows it to you) has both colors you want. You ask for the price ( each, Buy one the second one 50% off). You ask if you buy the two tops and one shirt can it be 1, in total? Since the 2nd top has been discounted, the total should be 1, However if you buy a pair of shoes, which is 1,020.00, she will only charge you 2, You agree. After you pay for it you change your mind and ask to return the shoes because it is too expensive. However the sales says that it can’t be returned because it is the final sale. (It has been discounted.)
