2 (2)与名词连用（很少见）:译成“作为” 从纯语法角度讲，这时的“as”短语在句中作后置定语，因为它是修饰名词的，而这种名词主要来自于要求与“as”连用的动词。所以在汉译时往往把该名词译成动词，因而“as”短语也就相应译成补足语或状语了。 A PN junction(结) can be of use as a rectifier (整流器). The definition(定义) of electric current(电流) as a flow of charge(电荷的流动) is familiar(熟悉的) to all of us.

3 (3) 与形容词连用（极少见） 这时“as”短语在句中作状语，译成“作为”。这种形容词也主要来自于与“as”连用的及物动词。 A diode(二极管) is useful as a rectifier. This current is expressible(可表示的) in terms of(根据) the mesh currents(网孔电流) as i3 – i2.

4 2、从属连接词 这时“as”用来引导状语从句。它可以引导五种状语从句(时间、原因、方式、比较、让步)，具体表示哪一种，一般要根据上下文的逻辑概念来断定。 As t goes to infinity(无穷), f (t) goes to zero(零). As the temperature of a body rises, the radiated heat(辐射的热) also increases. The members(元素) of Group II are all chemically (化学性能上) similar(雷同的), as each has two outer electrons(外层电子). In electric circuits(电路), capacitors(电容器) are used to store(存储) charge(电荷), somewhat(有点) as a bucket(水桶) can be used to store a quantity of(一定量的) water.

5 注意： ① 注意下面这种省略式方式状语从句的译法： The AND-OR-NOT complete set(整套门电路) will be described(论述), as are the NAND and NOR functions(功能). ② “… not … + 方式状语从句”应译成“不像……那样……” The momentum(动量) of the sun does not decrease(减少) with time as its energy content(能量数) does. ③方式状语从句有时演变成了定语从句似的（也就是说， “as”在从句中作了主语或宾语）。

6 A derivation(推导) of the formulas(公式) for the half-power frequencies(半功率频率) of the series(串联) RLC circuit can be accomplished(完成) just(就) as was done for the parallel(并联的) RCL circuit. (“as”在从句中作了主语)
