2 巴洛克風格 Baroque 「巴洛克」（—Baroque）此字源於西班牙語及葡萄牙語的「不規則的怪異的珍珠」，在歐洲文化史中，「巴洛克」慣指的時間是十七世紀以及十八世紀上半葉，這一時期，上接文藝復興，下接古典時期與浪漫時期。 Rubens Peter Paul, ,Oil on canvas,142 x 182 cm,private collection 圖片來源:

3 Peter Paul Rubens 1577/6/28 生於德國西巴伐利亞(Westphalia)的茨根鎮(Siegen)。
1590年 先後跟過三位安特衛普的畫師習畫,包括托比亞‧維哈奇特(Tobias Verhaecht),亞當‧溫諾特(Adam Van Noort)以及奧托‧溫芬(Otto Van Veen)。 1598年 成為安特衛普畫家公會聖路加公會認可的畫師。 1600年 前往義大利遊學,觀大師作品受矯飾主義啟迪,為曼杜雅公爵溫森索擔任宮廷畫家,前往各地臨摹大師作品。 1610年 為安特衛普教堂繪製〈升舉十字架〉,開始聲名大噪。 圖片來源:

4 魯本斯巴洛克風格成熟期 1629年 代表西班牙前往英格蘭尋求外交和談。 1640年 死於關節炎。

18 問題點以及愈深入之主題 Q1:在魯本斯之前以上十字架為主題的作品十分有限，但在其之後卻很多，大部分的作品都是耶穌受難，或者是卸下聖體，為何魯本斯要以上十字架為題材?在魯本斯之後以上十字架為題材的人是否有受到魯本斯影響?
