1耶和華的話臨到亞米太的兒子約拿，說： 2 「你起來往尼尼微大城去，向其中的居民呼喊，因為他們的惡達到我面前。」 3 約拿卻起來，逃往他施去躲避耶和華；下到約帕，遇見一隻船，要往他施去。他就給了船價，上了船，要與船上的人同往他施去躲避耶和華。(和合本) 1The word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh the great city and cry against it, for their wickedness has come up before Me.” 3 But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. 9 Jonah 3:1-3 1 耶和華的話二次臨到約拿說: 2「你起來！往尼尼微大城去，向其中的居民宣告我所吩咐你的話」3 約拿便照耶和華的話起來，往尼尼微去。 (和合本)

Dear Lord: I’m willing to talk to someone about my faith, my church life, or my testimony at least 1 time per month, please help me to keep it up and provide me the opportunity. Serve Your Community: I am willing to involve in community service or short-term mission trip at least 2 times this year.

13 Jonah 3:3b-6 3b這尼尼微是極大的城，有三日的路程。 4 約拿進城走了一日，宣告說：「再等四十日，尼尼微必傾覆了！」 5 尼尼微人信服　神，便宣告禁食，從最大的到至小的都穿麻衣（或譯：披上麻布）。 6 這信息傳到尼尼微王的耳中，他就下了寶座，脫下朝服，披上麻布，坐在灰中。  Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, a three days’ walk. 4 Then Jonah began to go through the city one day’s walk; and he cried out and said, “Yet forty days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” 5 Then the people of Nineveh believed in God; and they called a fast and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least of them. 6 When the word reached the king of Nineveh, he arose from his throne, laid aside his robe from him, covered himself with sackcloth and sat on the ashes. (NASB)

14 Jonah 3:  他又使人遍告尼尼微通城，說：「王和大臣有令，人不可嘗甚麼，牲畜、牛羊不可吃草，也不可喝水。 8 人與牲畜都當披上麻布；人要切切求告　神。各人回頭離開所行的惡道，丟棄手中的強暴。 9 或者　神轉意後悔，不發烈怒，使我們不致滅亡，也未可知。」 10 於是　神察看他們的行為，見他們離開惡道，他就後悔，不把所說的災禍降與他們了。 7 He issued a proclamation and it said, “In Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let man, beast, herd, or flock taste a thing. Do not let them eat or drink water.  8 But both man and beast must be covered with sackcloth; and let men call on God earnestly that each may turn from his wicked way and from the violence which is in his hands.9 Who knows, God may turn and relent and withdraw His burning anger so that we will not perish.” 10 When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked way, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. And He did not do it.

19 Jonah 4:1-4 1這事約拿大大不悅，且甚發怒， 2 就禱告耶和華說：「耶和華啊，我在本國的時候豈不是這樣說嗎？我知道你是有恩典、有憐憫的　神，不輕易發怒，有豐盛的慈愛，並且後悔不降所說的災，所以我急速逃往他施去。 3 耶和華啊，現在求你取我的命吧！因為我死了比活著還好。」 4 耶和華說：「你這樣發怒合乎理嗎？」  1But it greatly displeased Jonah and he became angry. 2 He prayed to the LORD and said, “Please LORD, was not this what I said while I was still in my own country? Therefore in order to forestall this I fled to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning calamity. 3 Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for death is better to me than life.” 4 The LORD said, “Do you have good reason to be angry?”

Jonah 4:5-8 5 於是約拿出城，坐在城的東邊，在那裡為自己搭了一座棚，坐在棚的蔭下，要看看那城究竟如何。 6 耶和華　神安排一棵蓖麻，使其發生高過約拿，影兒遮蓋他的頭，救他脫離苦楚；約拿因這棵蓖麻大大喜樂。5 Then Jonah went out from the city and sat east of it. There he made a shelter for himself and sat under it in the shade until he could see what would happen in the city. 6 So the LORD God appointed a plant and it grew up over Jonah to be a shade over his head to deliver him from his discomfort. 28 Jonah 4:7-8 7 次日黎明，　神卻安排一條蟲子咬這蓖麻，以致枯槁。 8 日頭出來的時候，　神安排炎熱的東風，日頭曝曬約拿的頭，使他發昏，他就為自己求死，說：「我死了比活著還好！」  7 But God appointed a worm when dawn came the next day and it attacked the plant and it withered. 8 When the sun came up God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah’s head so that he became faint and begged with all his soul to die, saying, “Death is better to me than life.”

29 Jonah 4:9-11 9  神對約拿說:「你因這棵蓖麻發怒合乎理嗎？」他說:「我發怒以至於死，都合乎理！」10 耶和華說:「這蓖麻不是你栽種的，也不是你培養的；一夜發生，一夜乾死，你尚且愛惜； 11 何況這尼尼微大城，其中不能分辨左手右手的有十二萬多人，並有許多牲畜，我豈能不愛惜呢？」 9 Then God said to Jonah, “Do you have good reason to be angry about the plant?” And he said, “I have good reason to be angry, even to death.” 10 Then the LORD said, “You had compassion on the plant for which you did not work and which you did not cause to grow, which came up overnight and perished overnight. 11 Should I not have compassion on Nineveh, the great city in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know the difference between their right and left hand, as well as many animals?”
