7 Genesis 創世記 32: 所打發的人回到雅各那裡，說：「我們到了你哥哥以掃那裡，他帶著四百人，正迎著你來。」 7 雅各就甚懼怕，而且愁煩，便把那與他同在的人口和羊群、牛群、駱駝分做兩隊， 8 說：「以掃若來擊殺這一隊，剩下的那一隊還可以逃避。」6 The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, “We came to your brother Esau, and furthermore he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.” 7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed; and he divided the people who were with him, and the flocks and the herds and the camels, into two companies; 8 for he said, “If Esau comes to the one company and attacks it, then the company which is left will escape.”

14 Genesis 創世記 32: 那人問他:「你叫甚麼名字？」他回答:雅各。28那人說:「你的名字不要再叫雅各，要叫以色列，因為你與　神與人較力，都得了勝。」29雅各問他，說:「請把你的名告訴我。」那人回答:「為甚麼問我的名呢？」他就在那裡給雅各祝福。30於是，雅各給那地方起名叫毘努伊勒，意思說:「我面對面看見了　神，我的性命仍得保全。」 27 The man asked him, “What is your name?” “Jacob,” he answered. 28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.” 29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.” But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there. 30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

And behold, he also is behind us.’”

23 Genesis 創世記 33:3b-7 3b[雅各]一連七次俯伏在地才就近他哥哥。 4 以掃跑來迎接他，將他抱住，又摟著他的頸項，與他親嘴，兩個人就哭了. 5 以掃舉目看見婦人孩子，就說:「這些和你同行的是誰呢？」雅各說:「這些孩子是　神施恩給你的僕人的.」 6 於是兩個使女和她們的孩子前來下拜;7 利亞和她的孩子也前來下拜; 隨後約瑟和拉結也前來下拜。 3b [Jacob] bowed down to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. 4 Then Esau ran to meet him and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept. 5 He lifted his eyes and saw the women and the children, and said, “Who are these with you?” So he said, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.” 6 Then the maids came near with their children, and they bowed down. 7 Leah likewise came near with her children, and they bowed down; and afterward Joseph came near with Rachel, and they bowed down.

47 Genesis 創世記 32:31-32 31雅各經過毘努伊勒的時候，太陽剛剛出來，照在他身上。他因為大腿的傷，跛腳行走。
32因此，以色列人直到現在都不吃大腿窩上的筋，因為那人在雅各的大腿窩上的筋打了一下。 31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the socket of Jacob’s hip was touched near the tendon.
