Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? 56 And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?“ 57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, ”A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.“ 58 And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.

He has been raised from the dead; that is why these miraculous powers are at work in him.“ 3 For Herod had seized John and bound him and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, 4 because John had been saying to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her.“ 5 And though he wanted to put him to death, he feared the people, because they held him to be a prophet.

But she could not, 20 for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he kept him safe. When he heard him, he was greatly perplexed, and yet he heard him gladly. 21 But an opportunity came when Herod on his birthday gave a banquet for his nobles and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee. 22 For when Herodias's daughter came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests. And the king said to the girl, "Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.“ 23 And he vowed to her, "Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom."

This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

41 威斯敏特信条 Westminister Confession of Faith
在1643年，查理士王（Charles）当政之时，当时的议院的议员有许多是清教徒（他们被称为清教徒，是因为他们热衷与正统的神学教义与敬虔的敬拜）。 这群清教徒是深受改教家加尔文神学的影响。他们期盼重整英国教会，于是在威斯敏特大教堂召开了一个大型的议会。

42 这议会中包括121位牧师，30位议院议员，及8位苏格兰代表。大家则一致认同改教家加尔文的观点，并否定罗马天主教及反对预定论的阿民念派。
经过三年的讨论，议会于1646年12月完成了《威斯敏特信条》，写出教会应当认信的教义。信条的内容是完整、精确、简洁、平衡的，因为每一个句子都经过小组的讨论及长久的公开的辩论。

43 这信条后来也影响了苏格兰的教会。之后也随着一些清教徒移民到美国，而成为了许多长老会的主要信条。此信条是加尔文神学，清教徒神学的结晶，共有三十三章，其特色有下列几点：
信条包含有关圣经、上帝、世人、基督、救赎、教会及末世的教导。

 （1）耶稣为我们完全守住了前约。 （2）耶稣为我们承担了违背前约所带来的咒诅与刑罚 （3） 耶稣把新约（神向亚伯拉罕和祂“后裔”立约的应许福份）白白赐下给了我们。

重生的生命：从内心里认识神，有圣灵作见证 神要宽恕我们的不义，不再记念我们的罪愆。 不再靠旧约中的律法得救。耶稣拯救了我们。
