5 養蚊咬人，不如養魚咬蚊： 登革熱生物防治計畫
(嘉義市新聞稿)針對住家周遭難以清除的長期積水處進行施放孔雀魚等食蚊魚類，希望有效降低病媒蚊幼蟲孳生，也降低登革熱傳播風險。食蚊魚適應力強、食量驚人， 一尾食蚊魚平均每天可吃下60-200隻孑孓，3-5隻孔雀魚即可確保1個廢棄的人工造景池半年內不會孳生蚊蟲， 若孵化出小魚形成穩定生態，此區域從此無孳生蚊蟲疑慮，是環保、 有效、治標又治本的防治方法。

6 生物防治 生物防治是指利用各種天敵及蟲生病原微生物等防治害蟲，包括捕食性昆蟲、寄生性昆蟲以及微生物天敵之利用。
此種防治方法可被大多數消費者接受，不僅讓害蟲無所遁形，最重要的是不會有農藥殘毒及害蟲不易產生抗藥性等。 生物防治對天敵的傷害最小，是目前害蟲綜合防治體系中重要的防治方法之一。 世界各國的專家學者對這方面的研究，正如火如荼的展開，而各種生物防治方法亦相繼運用到實際害蟲防治工作上。
