3:12 Therefore, on account of you Zion will be plowed as a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, And the mountain of the temple will become high places of a forest. Jerusalem survive Micah’s time – is this prophecy in error? See Jer. 26: Jeremiah 26: 18 "Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, 'Thus the LORD of hosts has said, "Zion will be plowed as a field, And Jerusalem will become ruins, And the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest."' 19 "Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? Did he not fear the LORD and entreat the favor of the LORD, and the LORD changed His mind about the misfortune which He had pronounced against them? But we are committing a great evil against ourselves.“ 19:猶大王希西家、和猶大眾人、豈是把他治死呢、希西家豈不是敬畏耶和華、懇求他的恩麼.耶和華就後悔、不把自己所說的災禍降與他們.若治死這人

13 Ministry of two witnesses = 1260 days
The antichrist to have power for 42 months = 3 ½ years Revelation 11: 1 Then there was given me a measuring rod like a staff; and someone said, "Get up and measure the temple (naos) of God and the altar, and those who worship in it. 2 "Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months. The beast (antichrist) Revelation 13:5 There was given to him a mouth speaking arrogant words and blasphemies, and authority to act for forty-two months was given to him. 42 months = 1278 days Ministry of two witnesses = 1260 days

14 The Jewish Remnant lead by the two witnesses – for 1260 days
Revelation 11: 3 "And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.“ 4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth. 5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire flows out of their mouth and devours their enemies; so if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way. 6 These have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall during the days of their prophesying; and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire. 7 When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them [cannot occur if 42 months is not > 1260 days] The worshippers = 144,000 and the two witnesses will lead them Revelation 12:6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God, so that there she would be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days. 12:14 But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness

Micah 5:2 "But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.” 伯利恆 以法他啊!你在猶大諸族中雖然細小”, 必有一位從你那裡出來,為我作以色列的統治者;他的根源從太初,從亙古就有了。 Matthew 2:6 AND YOU, BETHLEHEM, LAND OF JUDAH, ARE BY NO MEANS LEAST AMONG THE LEADERS OF JUDAH; FOR OUT OF YOU SHALL COME FORTH A RULER WHO WILL SHEPHERD MY PEOPLE ISRAEL. " 『猶大地的伯利恆阿、你在猶大諸城中、並不是最小的.因為將來有一位君王、要從你那裡出來、牧養我以色列民。』

20 耶和華必將以色列人交付敵人、直等那生產的婦人生下子來.那時掌權者〔原文作他〕其餘的弟兄必歸到以色列人那裡。
Micah 5:2 "But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.“ 3 Therefore He will give them up until the time When she who is in labor has borne a child. Then the remainder (yether-left over) of His brethren Will return to the sons of Israel. 耶和華必將以色列人交付敵人、直等那生產的婦人生下子來.那時掌權者〔原文作他〕其餘的弟兄必歸到以色列人那裡。 The two conditions before God will take them back or start using them again: The birth of a child – it must be referring to Christ as v2 is His birth The return of the remnant to Israel.

21 Sheerith and yether used interchangeably
Zephaniah 2:9 "Therefore, as I live," declares the LORD of hosts, The God of Israel, "Surely Moab will be like Sodom And the sons of Ammon like Gomorrah-- A place possessed by nettles and salt pits, And a perpetual desolation. The remnant (sheerith-residue) of My people will plunder them And the remainder (yether-left over) of My nation will inherit them.“ 萬軍之耶和華以色列的 神說、我指著我的永生起誓、摩押必像所多瑪、亞捫人必像蛾摩拉、都變為刺草、鹽坑、永遠荒廢之地。我百姓所剩下的必擄掠他們、我國中所餘剩的必得著他們的地。

22 他必起來、倚靠耶和華的大能、並耶和華他 神之名的威嚴、牧養他的羊群.他們要安然居住.因為他必日見尊大、直到地極。
Micah 5:2 "But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.“ 4 And He will arise and shepherd His flock In the strength of the LORD, In the majesty of the name of the LORD His God. And they will remain, Because at that time (atah-now) He will be great to the ends of the earth. 他必起來、倚靠耶和華的大能、並耶和華他 神之名的威嚴、牧養他的羊群.他們要安然居住.因為他必日見尊大、直到地極。 He in v4 is the Messiah and there are 2 common ways to interpret the passage (A & B) A. This is the Millennium when Christ the Messiah (He) will rule for 1000 years

23 If this is so, after v4ff two important details makes it problematic …
1. There will be invasions from many enemies. 5 This One will be our peace. When the Assyrian invades our land, When he tramples on our citadels, Then we will raise against him Seven shepherds and eight leaders of men. 6 They will shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, The land of Nimrod at its entrances; And He will deliver us from the Assyrian When he attacks our land And when he tramples our territory. NB: The Assyrians represent strong hostile enemies because Nimrod in Genesis is also mentioned. [NB: Assyrians are also already gone when Christ is born and this is after His birth = v2-3] “peace” must be referring to internal peace because it is followed immediately by wars

2. God uses the remnant to deal with the enemies. 5 This One will be our peace. When the Assyrian invades our land, When he tramples on our citadels, Then we will raise against him Seven shepherds and eight leaders of men. 6 They will shepherd (raah) the land of Assyria with the sword, The land of Nimrod at its entrances; And He will deliver us from the Assyrian When he attacks our land And when he tramples our territory. NB: It is “we” and not just God and so the remnant are involve against the enemies

2. God uses the remnant to deal with the enemies. 8 The remnant (sherith-residue) of Jacob Will be among the nations, Among many peoples Like a lion among the beasts of the forest, Like a young lion among flocks of sheep, Which, if he passes through, Tramples down and tears, And there is none to rescue. 9 Your hand will be lifted up against your adversaries, And all your enemies will be cut off. NB: They also trample down the enemies like a young lion (8).

26 The following shows that this is not the Millennium
Invasions of v5-6 and v9 do not fit the Millennium which is a time of peace The remnant have to rise against enemies – in the Millennium sinners will be slayed by Christ (Isa. 11:4) or devoured by fire (Rev. 20:9). V11 (I will also cut off the cities of your land And tear down all your fortifications) sounds like the Tribulation. Then v13 is a problem ("I will cut off your carved images And your sacred pillars) – idols in the Millennium? Even if this is Satan’s invasion at end of Millennium – he is destroyed by fire and not confronted by the remnant (v8). 11 "I will also cut off the cities of your land And tear down all your fortifications. 13 "I will cut off your carved images And your sacred pillars from among you, So that you will no longer bow down To the work of your hands. 11 也必從你國中除滅城邑、拆毀一切的保障、 13 我必從你中間除滅雕刻的偶像和柱像、你就不再跪拜自己手所造的。

27 B. Remnant is the Church emerging at Pentecost.
A second theory by conservative commentators on the remnant is…. B. Remnant is the Church emerging at Pentecost. EEC: The prophecy was fulfilled at Pentecost when those of the Diaspora repented, were baptized, and joined the messianic remnant trusting in the resurrected Jesus as Messiah and Lord (Acts 2). But: Through the centuries, the Church are not Jewish and thus not really the remnant. There were many invasions on Israel – Rome, Arabs, Crusades, etc and they are all mainly successful – not stopped by the church at all. Even the return of Israel to the land is not due to the work of the Church.

28 The remnant are the Messianic Jews that are now emerging.
However one interpretation will fit all the particulars …. The remnant are the Messianic Jews that are now emerging. 4 And He will arise and shepherd His flock In the strength of the LORD, In the majesty of the name of the LORD His God. And they will remain (yashab-stay or dwell on), Because at that time He will be great To the ends of the earth. 5 This One will be our peace. When the Assyrian invades our land, When he tramples on our citadels, Then we will raise against him Seven shepherds and eight leaders of men.

29 Shepherds will be raised for the remnants returning to Israel
Jeremiah 23:1-12 Shepherds will be raised for the remnants returning to Israel

30 Jeremiah 23: The return with shepherds caring for the spiritual state
3 "Then I Myself will gather the remnant of My flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and bring them back to their pasture, and they will be fruitful and multiply. 4 "I will also raise up shepherds over them and they will tend them; and they will not be afraid any longer, nor be terrified, nor will any be missing," declares the LORD. 5 "Behold, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land. 6 "In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell securely; And this is His name by which He will be called, 'The LORD our righteousness.' 1 2 3 4 1 First gather (v3) – 2. then shepherds, so the spiritual return (v4) – 3. next Christ’s reign (v5) – 4. Israel dwell securely, the Millennium (v6).

1 2 3 4 1. First gather (v3) – 2. then shepherds, so the spiritual return (v4) – 3. next Christ’s reign (v5) – 4. Israel dwell securely, the Millennium (v6).

32 The remnant are the Messianic Jews that are now emerging.
However one interpretation will fit all the particulars …. The remnant are the Messianic Jews that are now emerging. 4 And He will arise and shepherd His flock In the strength of the LORD, In the majesty of the name of the LORD His God. And they will remain, Because at that time He will be great To the ends of the earth. 5 This One will be our peace. When the Assyrian invades our land, When he tramples on our citadels, Then we will raise against him Seven shepherds and eight leaders of men.

NB They are already around to be raised up when the Assyrians (enemies) invade (5). He is our peace is internal peace – so the remnants are converted believers (3). Remnants will have shepherds (v6) as the Messianic Jews leaders see themselves He is great to the ends of the earth (v4- it is spread of gospel to ends of the earth). They will confront the enemies (8b-9) as stated in Rev. 11:5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire flows out of their mouth and devours their enemies; so if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way. 6 They will shepherd (raah) the land of Assyria with the sword, The land of Nimrod at its entrances; And He will deliver us from the Assyrian When he attacks our land And when he tramples our territory. 8. Like a young lion among flocks of sheep, Which, if he passes through, Tramples down and tears, And there is none to rescue. 9. And all your enemies will be cut off.

34 Then the rest of the chapter do fit the Tribulation:
11 "I will also cut off the cities of your land And tear down all your fortifications. 12 "I will cut off sorceries from your hand, And you will have fortune-tellers no more. [cf. Rev, 9:20-21 – idols exist during the Tribulation] 13 "I will cut off your carved images And your sacred pillars from among you, So that you will no longer bow down To the work of your hands. 14 "I will root out your Asherim from among you And destroy your cities. 15 "And I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath On the nations which have not obeyed.“ 11 也必從你國中除滅城邑、拆毀一切的保障、 12 又必除掉你手中的邪術.你那裡也不再有占卜的。 13 我必從你中間除滅雕刻的偶像和柱像、你就不再跪拜自己手所造的。 14 我必從你中間拔出木偶、又毀滅你的城邑。 15 我也必在怒氣和忿怒中向那不聽從的列國施報。 The antichrist will invade Israel during the Tribulation – Matt. 24:15-16 Thus partly responsible for the carnage above but God will destroy these nations, many in the battle of Armageddon.

The reemergence of sorcery and idols worship during the Tribulation Rev. 9: 20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; 21 and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts.

36 Note that the remnant will be a special spiritual blessings at that time in this world …..
7 Then the remnant of Jacob Will be among many peoples Like dew from the LORD, Like showers on vegetation Which do not wait for man Or delay for the sons of men. This is the 144,000 but where is the Church? - they will be raptured. The Jews have never been such among peoples of the earth. But this time it will be the Messianic Jews finest hours – but preparation must begin now.

The decadent evil state of Israel as they enter into judgment. 1-6 Micah’s frustration on the absence of the godly person. 1-2 The immensity of the evil in Israel. 3-4 The breaking up of all relationships when judgments come. 5-6 2. Remnant’s reliance on God and the victory when judgment comes. 7-17 Remnant to fully wait on God as they undergo judgment. 7-8 Remnant to trust fully that God will plead his case. 9 God’s impressive deliverance in front of enemies Deliverance and triumph of remnant over nations during Tribulation.13-17 3. Final doxology on God gracious pardon and faithfulness God will pardon and deal with our sins God unchanging faithfulness. 20

42 Follow by two visions on how God will restore the remnant
1. Micah 7: Micah 7:13-17 Micah 7:10 Then my enemy will see, And shame will cover her who said to me, "Where is the LORD your God?" My eyes will look on her; At that time she will be trampled down Like mire of the streets. This is Armageddon Micah 7: then the Millennium 11 It will be a day for building your walls. On that day will your boundary be extended. 12 It will be a day when they will come to you From Assyria and the cities of Egypt, From Egypt even to the Euphrates, Even from sea to sea and mountain to mountain.

7:13ff goes to the Tribulation – God judge the entire earth because of sin Micah 7:13 And (wav hayah) the earth will become desolate because of her inhabitants, On account of the fruit of their deeds. See what the Jews must do……….. Micah 7:14 Shepherd Your people with Your scepter, The flock of Your possession Which dwells by itself in the woodland, In the midst of a fruitful field (Carmel). Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead As in the days of old [days of old - when is this?

Micah 7: 15 "As in the days when you came out from the land of Egypt, I will show you miracles.” 耶和華說、我要把奇事顯給他們看、好像出埃及地的時候一樣。 As in Rev. 11:3-6 led by the two witnesses with miracles similar to Exodus.” 3 "And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.“ 我要使我那兩個見證人、穿著毛衣、傳道一千二百六十天。 5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire flows out of their mouth and devours their enemies; so if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way. 6 These have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall during the days of their prophesying; and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.

Micah 7: 16 Nations will see and be ashamed Of all their might. They will put their hand on their mouth, Their ears will be deaf. 17 They will lick the dust like a serpent, Like reptiles of the earth. They will come trembling out of their fortresses; to the Lord our God they will come in dread And they will be afraid before You. V10 ashamed in not believing As in Rev. 12:14 when the remnant is led by two wings of an eagle. 14 But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness to her place, where she was nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.

God uses the remnant to deal with the enemies. (chapter 5) 8 The remnant of Jacob Will be among the nations, Among many peoples Like a lion among the beasts of the forest, Like a young lion among flocks of sheep, Which, if he passes through, Tramples down and tears, And there is none to rescue. 9 Your hand will be lifted up against your adversaries, And all your enemies will be cut off. NB: They also trample down the enemies like a young lion (8).

48 But what will happen after the death of the two witnesses?

49 The antichrist will try to destroy them
Revelation 12: 15 And the serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon poured out of his mouth.

50 Note: the 144,000 are in Heaven as this is before Christ return in Rev
Revelation 14: 1 Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder, and the voice which I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps. 3 And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one could learn the song except the one hundred and forty-four thousand who had been purchased from the earth. 4 These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they have kept themselves chaste. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb. Are they slaughtered or killed? Not so, as they are protected by the seal and the two witnesses. It must be their own rapture - Rapture II of the 144,000 before Christ return. So why first fruits? The first Jews to be fully completely resurrected.

51 Praise the Lord and thank you

52 But Paul included himself in the rapture?
1st Thessalonians 4: 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.

53 Many examples – just give two
It is Paul’s usual technique of self identification with the gentiles…. Many examples – just give two eg. 2Thess 3:10 - For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. Acts 18:5 But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, solemnly testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ. So Paul stop working against his own words. eg. Eph 2: 3 – Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest But Paul’s background is not such. Phil. 3: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee; 6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless [Paul never live in the lusts of the flesh for he is a strict Jew from birth] So it is also reasonable that Jews will have their own rapture (see slide 26) …………………..
