Heb 12:14, “Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” 希伯來書 12:14:「你們要追求與眾人和睦,並要追求聖潔;非聖潔沒有人能見主;」 This requires us to work to “Make every effort”…to be holy 我們要“盡一切努力”...成為聖潔

BE = Is in syntax, a verb, from the Latin verbum meaning word, is a word (part of speech) that conveys action (bring, read, walk, run, learn), or a state of being (exist, stand). 「要」--- 在語法上是一個動詞,有行動的意思(例:攜帶、閱讀、散步、跑步、學習);又可表達某種存在性(例:存在、站立。)

HOLY OR HOLINESS = The Hebrew word for "holiness," "kedushah" (Hebrew: קדושה) has the connotation of "separateness." That which is holy in Judaism is set apart, and the separation is maintained by both legal and spiritual measures 「聖潔」--- 原文(希伯來文)含有「分離、分別出來」的意思。猶太教思想中「聖潔」就等同於「處之以外」;而「分別」是由律法和靈性兩方面來保持。
