3 据《全球动物园保护策略2005》：动物园的保护教育如要帮助公众认识自身在生态保护中不可替代的作用，则需要以专业的手段和方法、对公众的了解和认识以及目标明确的教育计划才能成功。

4 1、人与自然之间的关联愈来愈呈疏离的趋势。

5 2、公众对动物机构及其公共职责的关注的同时，对动物福利也日趋关注。
Is it ethical to keep animals in zoos? --Zoo official says only if conservation and animal welfare are the focus “There’s an increasing focus on animal welfare. That’s great, but how does that impact us when we use animals in education?”

6 Michael Hutchins, PhD "I think the central ethical justification for zoos and aquariums in the modern world is their commitment to conservation," Dr. Hutchins said. Zoos support conservation by educating the public, raising money for conservation programs, developing technology that can be used to track wild populations, conducting scientific research, advancing veterinary medicine, and developing animal handling techniques. By studying animals in captivity and applying that knowledge to their husbandry, zoos can provide valuable and practical information that may be difficult or impossible to gather in the wild.

Through MIRP and other programs like The Ocean Project, we’ve looked to related fields to see how we can increase our impact on our guests – in particular, how to better instill caring and change behavior.
