6 Matthew 8:23-27 23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” 26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

16 The Effects of Fear Fear corrodes our confidence in God’s goodness.
Fear turns us into control freaks. Fear causes amnesia of God’s faithfulness. Fear feels dreadful.

17 “Do not be afraid” Matthew 10:31 - So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Matthew 9:2 - Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.” Matthew 6:25 - Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Luke 8:50 - Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” Matthew 14:27 - But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

19 “Do not be afraid” Matthew 10:28 - Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Luke 12:32 - “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.” John 14:1 - “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Matthew 24:6 - You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Matthew 17:7 - But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.”
