英譯中： 1. An old saying tells us that even Homer sometimes nods. 有句古語告訴我們說，即使荷馬有時也打瞌睡，聖賢也會犯錯， 或「智者千慮，必有一失」。 【註釋】荷馬係紀元前九世紀之古希臘偉大詩人。 2. Our teacher said, “Never pass up a chance to improve your English.” 我們老師說：「決不要錯過增進你們英文的機會。」 【註釋】 pass up 忽略、放過、錯過。 3. What the teacher sys often goes in (at) one ear and out (at) the other. 老師所說的話常常左耳進右耳出，或當耳邊風。 4. Knowledge is the root of wisdom; wisdom is the ripe fruit of knowledge. 知識是智慧之根，智慧是知識之（熟）果。 5. Restrictions on haircuts will be history to the nation’s two million high school students. 髮禁對我國兩百萬中學生來說將成為歷史。
中譯英： 1. 她告訴我她有時候很容易生氣。 She told me that she was easily angered sometimes. She told me that she got angry easily sometimes. 【註釋】如譯作She told me that she was easy to be angered sometimes. 或She told me that she was easy to get angry sometimes.就成了中式英文。 2. 她說：「我剛才收到我父親的來信」。 She said,“I have just received a letter from my father.” 【註釋】亦可譯作She said,“I just received a letter from my father. ”Just當剛才或方才（a moment ago）解釋時， 英式英文用現在完成式，美式英文用簡單過去式。 但just now（剛才）不論英式英文或美式英文均用簡單過去式， 例如：I received a letter from him just now. 3. 學習英文並不如你想的那麼困難。 Learning English is not so hard as you might think.
