Three features of the repetitive style of Hebrew poetry: Synonymous parallelism. [Repeat] Isaiah 44.22: “I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist.” 2. Antithetical parallelism. [Contrast] Hosea 7.14: “They do not cry out to me from their hearts, but wail upon their beds.” 3. Synthetic parallelism. Signs of hope: 1. A scribe is not far from the Kingdom. 2. A widow gives everything she has to God. 3. The parable in 12.1-12: Gentiles will come to worship God and will inherit what Israel throws away.
