2 直接引语和间接引语 直接引用或复述别人所讲的话,叫直接引语。 用自己的话转述别人的话,叫间接引语。

3 当直接引语为祈使句时,间接引语改为 asked sb. (not) to do sth. told sb. (not) to do sth. 形式。 Miss Wang said, “ Read the text aloud.” Mom said,“ Get some milk for breakfast.” Mom said,“ Don’t go out on rainy days.” Miss Wang asked us to read the text aloud. Mom told me to get some milk for breakfast. Mom told me not to go out on rainy days. told asked

4 当直接引语为陈述句时,引述动词为过去时, 间接引语的时态也用过去的某种时态。人称 根据上下文进行调整。。 Dad said, “ I am not going to have supper at home.” Mom said to me, “ We will have a picnic this Sunday.” Dad said that he was not going to have supper at home. Mom told me that we would have a picnic this Sunday.

6 当直接引语为一般疑问句时,间接引语用 if / whether 引导,其后加上陈述句。 Miss Wang asked, “ Are you a student?” Mom asked,“ Will you get some milk ?” The man asked,“ Do you go to school by bike?” Miss Wang asked if I was a student. Mom asked if I would get some milk. The man asked if I went to school by bike.

7 当直接引语为特殊疑问句时,间接引语用原 疑问词引导,其后改为陈述句。 Miss Wang asked, “ Where are you from?” Mr. Li asked,“ How old are you?” Mom asked,“ How often do you go to the library?” Miss Wang asked where I was from. Mr. Li asked how old I was. Mom asked how often I went to the library.

9 直接引语改为间接引语 1.“ What present will you prepare for your mother?” Miss Wang asked. 2.Mom asked,“ Do you want to have some water, Dave?” 3. “ American people take Mother’s Day and Father’s Day seriously.” Dave told us. 4.“Why do Americans celebrate the second Sunday in May?” I asked. Miss Wang asked what present I would prepare for my mother. Mom asked if present I wanted to have some water. Dave told us that American people took Mother’s Day and Father’s Day seriously. I asked why Americans celebrated the second Sunday in May.

10 把间接引语改回直接引语。 1.Miss Wang asked us if we knew when it was Mother’s Day. 2.He told us that in North America, Mother’s day was the second Sunday in May. 3.He explained to us how he had made a special breakfast for his mother last Mother’s Day, and let her eat it in bed. 4. Then somebody asked if there was a Father’s Day. 5.She told us that Father’s Day was the third Sunday in June. Miss Wang asked,“ Do you know when it is Mother’s Day?” He said,“ In North America, Mother’s day is the second Sunday in May.” He said,“ I made a special breakfast for my mother and let her eat it in bed last Mother’s Day.” Then someone asked,“ Is there a Father’s Day?” She said,“ Father’s Day is the third Sunday in June.”

11 Work in pairs: Role-play the following situation after the example.

12 EXAMPLE: Mother: Frank called today. Father: What did he say? Mother: He asked whether I could go to a movie with him.
