1 Food & eating habits in America

2 We can see fat people everywhere in America
We can see fat people everywhere in America. Usually a person who is considered fat in China is athletic and in a good shape in the US. Why? One reason is because the nation themselves, the other is because of what they eat.

3 breakfast They prefer sweet foods (fruit, pancakes薄煎饼, cereals 麦片粥) for their first meal of the day

4 lunch They tend to have their smallest and most casual meal at lunch which can be a smaller version 版本 of a dinner meal but is more commonly a sandwich, some leftovers, soup, noodles or a yogurt and some fruit.

5 dinner Americans prefer to eat dinner between 6-7 pm. This is the biggest meal of the day and usually consists of meat (or other protein蛋白质), a carb 碳水化合物(potatoes, bread) and at least one vegetable (corn, peas, broccoli). Many Americans tend to drink soft drinks with their meals although a lot of parents insist on milk

6 barbecue

7 On weekends, the Americans usually have only two meals--- brunch and dinner. Some American families don’t cook on weekends, they just eat outside. And on sunny Saturdays and Sundays, we can see people have a picnic or barbecue at the parks or in their own garden. Some parks even provide people with barbecue tools. It’s very convenient.

10 “ Would you like to come for dinner on Friday night?”
In the United States, people like inviting their friends to their homes for a meal, a party, or just for coffee. Americans think it better than taking them to a restaurant. Here is what Americans often say when they invite someone to their homes. “ Would you like to come for dinner on Friday night?” “ Would you do me the honour (赏光)of dining(吃饭) with me?” “ We are going to have a party on Friday night. Would you like to come?” You can reply” Thanks, I’d love to. What time?” or “ I’d love to, but I’m going to play tennis with John.”

11 “ Please come over for a cup of coffee sometime.”
Sometimes Americans use some expressions(语句) that sound like invitations, but they are not real ones. For example: “ Please come over for a cup of coffee sometime.” “ Let’s go out for dinner one of these days.” “ Why don’t you come and see us when you’re not busy?” These are usually just polite ways of ending a conversation. They are not real invitations because they don’t tell you a specific (具体的) date or time. They are just trying to be friendly and the replies can be “ OK, thank you.” or “ Yes, that would be great.”
