Eighteen of New Zealand’s top eco-tourism operators have come together to provide wilderness experiences for New Zealanders and for its visitors - this group is called the New Zealand Nature Network.

4 大自然 Aoteaora, New Zealand, is an extraordinary land. Until Maori arrived from Polynesia 1,200 years ago, New Zealand had been left, alone in its vast ocean, to evolve untouched for an amazing 60 million years. Its plants and animals, originally from the great southern continent of Gondwanaland, evolved in isolation. Like the Tuatara, pictured here, the closest living relative of the dinosaurs. New Zealand was home to an extraordinary diversity of flightless and other birds and strange reptiles and insects, but virtually no mammals. PRONUNCIATION GUIDE Tuatara Too-ah-tah-rah

5 大自然的強烈力量 紐西蘭有超過1/3的土地為國家公園或是列為環境保護區
More than a third of New Zealand is now protected in National Parks and conservation reserves managed by the Department of Conservation. Great progress has been made in safeguarding threatened native animals with the creation of wildlife sanctuaries, breeding programmes and predator control.
