義務工作的定義 The definition of “volunteer”
重要元素 The important factors 不為報酬 --尤其是金錢和物質 not for rewards – esp. money and materials 自願/志願 (非被迫) Volunteer – not forced to do so 有受益者 --人、社會、環境 Not only the person but also the society and the environment benefit from it 有投入感 with participation

義務工作是指….. Volunteer Service is
任何人 (不分年齡、國藉、性別、階層) Anyone (no boundary on age, nationality, gender, social level) 自(志)願貢獻個人時間及技能/精神 volunteer to offer one’s own time/ skills/ work 不為任何物質報酬,為改善社會而提供的服務 not for any kind of rewards but for the benefit of the community 兒童、青少年、 成年、老年 Children, youth, adults, elderly 男/女 male/ female 行政人員、老板 boss/ employees 打工仔、 家庭主婦 labour/ home maker

義工運動 Volunteer Movement
社會福利署於一九九八年開始開展 「義工運動」 The Social Welfare Department launched a Volunteer Movement since 1998 行政長官夫人董趙洪娉女士任義工總領袖 The wife of the Chief Executive as the “Volunteer-in-Chief”

建立一關懷、互助的社會 To build a caring community 肯定個人的自我價值 To promote self-fulfilment 開發及善用社會資源 To develop community resources 加強市民對香港的歸屬感 To promote sense of belonging
