3 Proverbs 箴言10 11 義人的口是生命的泉源，強暴遮蓋惡人的口。 19 多言多語難免有過失；約束自己嘴唇的，是明慧人。
20 義人的舌頭好像純銀，惡人的心思毫無價值。 21 義人的嘴唇培育多人，愚妄人因無知死亡。 11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life,     but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. 19 Sin is not ended by multiplying words,     but the prudent hold their tongues. 20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,     but the heart of the wicked is of little value. 21 The lips of the righteous nourish many,     but fools die for lack of sense. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check. 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.

13 James 雅各 Ch.3 5 照樣，舌頭雖然是個小肢體，卻會說誇大的話。試看，星星之火，可以燎原； 6 舌頭就是火，在我們百體中，是個不義的世界，能污穢全身，把整個生命在運轉中焚燒起來，而且是被地獄之火點燃的。 7 各類飛禽、走獸、昆蟲、水族，都可以馴服，而且都已經被人類制伏了； 8 可是沒有人能夠制伏舌頭；它是喋喋不休的惡物，充滿了致命的毒素。 5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. 7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

16 Proverbs箴言 12:18 說話浮躁的，如刀刺人；智慧人的舌頭卻為醫人的良藥。 There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, But the tongue of the wise brings healing. 17:27 有知識的約束自己的言語；聰明人心平氣和. He who restrains his words has knowledge, And he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. 29:20 你見過言語急躁的人嗎?愚昧人比他更有指望Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

2 For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well. 3 Now if we put the bits into the horses’ mouths so that they will obey us, we direct their entire body as well. 4 Look at the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, are still directed by a very small rudder wherever the inclination of the pilot desires. 5 So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire! 6 And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell. 7 For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race. 8 But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.

22 James 雅各 Ch.3 9 我們用它來稱頌我們的主和天父，又用它來咒詛照　神的形象被造的人。 10 同一張嘴竟然又稱頌主，又咒詛人；我的弟兄們，這是不應該的！ 11 泉源能夠從同一個出口湧出甜水和苦水來嗎? 12 我的弟兄們，無花果樹能結橄欖嗎？葡萄樹能長無花果嗎？鹹水也不能發出甜水來。 9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
