2 The Dragon Star Program
to help the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to improve its graduate education in Computer Science and Engineering. To organize graduate-level courses in the field of computer science and engineering. To increase awareness of the latest progress of Information Technology for the research and development community at large in PRC Sponsored by NSFC Organized by DSC DSC office in ICT 2018/12/7

3 Organization A volunteer organization known as the Dragon Star Committee （DSC）. Two sub-committees: Sub-Committee of North America Sub-Committee of People’s Republic of China DSC office for daily operations. 2018/12/7

4 Functions To organize graduate-level courses in the field of computer science and engineering. taught by internationally recognized scholars offered in a diversified set of universities in PRC. open to all P.R.C. graduate students who are interested in the subject for free. To organize seminars and workshops with the purpose of enhancing education and research To encourage its members to exchange scholarly visits. To encourage its members to collaborate in scientific research tasks upon mutual agreement. 2018/12/7

5 Brief review 2000 originally proposed by Wei Zhao, TAMU 2001
Wei Zhao and Yinghua Min, ICT, CAS sent the proposal to NSFC, and got positive response. Established the first term of DSC, chaired by W.Zhao and Y.Min gave 20 courses 2004 The second term of DSC, chaired by Xiaodong Zhang and Y.Min, started in 2005. 2005- ~ courses have been given. 2018/12/7
