The role of Prep English is to: 英语课的目的是 Prepare students for GCSE; 帮助学生为GCSE课程做准备 To engage students in English Language and Literature; 修读英语和英国文学科目 To develop skills students need in every single subject; 培养学生在所有学科的学习中所需的学习技巧 To flourish a love of learning. 培养对学习的热爱 English, both Language and Literature, are skill based subjects – not knowledge based: there are no key facts to remember, textbooks to revise, or formulas to recall – it’s much more difficult than that! 英语语言和文学都是基于技能的科目 - 不是以知识为基础：因此没有需要死记硬背的知识，不需要做题，或背诵公式 – 而是比这更难！ Skills take a long time to develop and must be practised! 技能的培养需要花费很长时间，且必须经常练习！ In order for students to undertake two English GCSEs, they must begin developing these skills early – indeed they already began in the Lower School! 为了让学生在GCSE英语中取得好成绩，必须尽早开始培养这些技能 - 实际上在小学阶段就已经开始了！

8 What can you do to help your child with their English studies?
Encourage your child to speak and listen to English as much as possible: music, audiobooks, and films. Read! Students should read every night before bed. Use technology! Readtheory, noredink, grammarlab and settings. Discuss! Debate ideas with your child – challenge them to explain their ideas and to prove them with evidence.
