15 3. Caring shepherds emerging after the return of the Jews
Jeremiah 23: The return with shepherds caring for the spiritual state 3 "Then I Myself will gather (piel imperf) the remnant of My flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and bring them back to their pasture, and they will be fruitful and multiply. 4 "I will also raise up (wav consec perf) shepherds over them and they will tend them; and they will not be afraid any longer, nor be terrified, nor will any be missing (paqad-care for)," declares the LORD. 5 "Behold, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "When I will raise up (wav consec perf) for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land. 6 "In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell securely; And this is His name by which He will be called, 'The LORD our righteousness.' 1 2 3 4 1 First gather (v3 active imperfect) – 2. then shepherds (wav consec perf), so the spiritual return (v4) – 3. next Christ’s reign (v5) – 4. Israel dwell securely, the Millennium (v6).

This victorious event will be bigger than the Exodus – seems impossible? Note in v8, this event starts with the Lord leading them in the present return. Jeremiah 23: 11 "For both prophet and priest are polluted; Even in My house I have found their wickedness," declares the LORD. 12 "Therefore their way will be like slippery paths to them, They will be driven away into the gloom and fall down in it; For I will bring calamity upon them, The year of their punishment," declare 11 連先知、帶祭司、都是褻瀆的、就是在我殿中我也看見他們的惡．這是耶和華說的。 12 因此、他們的道路必像黑暗中的滑地、他們必被追趕、在這路中仆倒、因為當追討之年、我必使災禍臨到他們．這是耶和華說的。 The rebuke is for prophets and priests, so why are shepherds used in v2-3? But it harmonizes for leaders of Messianic Jews now see themselves as shepherds.
