Taipei: its Development and Multiple Core
Taiwan – no surbanization From being a harbor (萬華、大稻程) to a political center (中正紀念堂), to a business-oriented metropolis (東區). Multiple Core – Mostly commercial areas; Where are the cultural cores? And the historical sites?

The Japanese(1895-): torn down inner city wall, Ching government buildings, 媽祖廟、天后宮、台北守護神城隍廟、文廟、武廟,試圖斬斷城市的文化認同。 Built: 在「三線路」的中山南路、中華路、愛國西路與忠孝西路所圍的「城內」建造了台灣總督府(即今總統府)、裁判所(即今司法院)、台灣銀行、新公園、軍司令部、憲兵隊本部等官署以及專供日人使用的公司、商站街與住宅區。 KMT ( ) Torn down:具有日本文化象徵意義的神社與封院全都被拆毀 Kept: government buildings。(source)
