II. Disciples abide in God’s word. John 8:31-32 31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

5 III. Meaning of “abide in” God’s word “遵守”主道的意義 (約 John 8:31; 14:21-24; 伯 Job 23:12; 詩 Ps 1:1-3; 119:11, 105) Meno (Gk) Abide in (ESV, NKJV) (住在…裡面) Remain in (NLT) (不離開) Continue in (NASB) (持續) Hold to (NIV) (遵守, 抓住) Stay (留在) Live (活在, 活出) Keep (遵守, 珍守) Obey (順服 Delight in (以…

6 The practice of abiding in God’s word James 1:19-27
IV. How to be really blessed by God’s word? (雅 James 1:19-27; 太 Matt 13:3-9, 18-23) The practice of abiding in God’s word 遵守主道的實踐(雅各) 雅 James 1:19-27

7 James 1:19–27 (NIV) 19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. 21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. 26 If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Matt 13:19-23 19”When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path. 20The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away. 22The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. 23But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it.
